If you are looking at this price point to buy a GPU buy immediately if you can find it a $750/850€. For at least 1 year there is going to be no alternative (if there will be Super refresh models) Even if RX 9070 XT Red Devil (or equivalent flagship OC model from other brands) is only -5% slower than 4080S there is practically 0% to be lower than $650 (i assume $599 for reference) so Red Devil offering only 10% better performance/price (if it's only $50 higher than reference RX 9070) in raster accomplish nothing...

Retail is now $909 excluding VAT (microcenter). Come on, man.
THAT is scalping, no two ways about this. But I was responding to EU prices where, if there ARE models in 900-950 range, that would be reasonable.
Though I hear other American users here say that Microcenter is always a poor metric, but I can’t comment here. Not American.

I remember when the xx70ti beat the previous gen xx80ti (/90ti). This thing doesn't even beat a 4080 and the actual prices are close to what the 4080 Super is supposed to cost. Seems like another one where the MSRP seems decent, but it's not a real thing and because of that, the card is just another money grab that barely exists. Nvidia has never created a better market for AMD to wipe the floor with them...if only we could trust AMD to not screw up their own launch. They haven't exactly inspired confidence so far.

It's pretty horrific. I made a previous post comparing new x80 cards to older x80ti/90 cards and the 5080 holds the ignominious distinction for being the only card in many generations to fail to beat the previous flagship, and now the 5070TI is the first card in generations to fail to beat the previous x80 card definitively.

Here's one for new x70ti cards versus older x80 cards for added perspective:-

GTX 1070ti was 45% faster than the GTX 980
RTX 2070s was 29% faster than the GTX 1080 [no x70ti for Turing]
RTX 3070ti was 35% faster than the RTX 2080
RTX 4070ti was 17% faster than the RTX 3080
RTX 5070ti is just as fast as the RTX 4080

That is not scalping since it's a RETAILER, not a reseller. And I don't know where you've ever heard that Microcenter is a poor metric, it's a very good store. Do you have a source?

The MSRP is not respected on the 5080, nor on the 5090, and neither is it on the 5070ti. Not to mention there won't be any supplies, just like the other two. And I'm very surprised that TPU doesn't take it into account in its value table and award.

if you consider what this card really is a 5060ti in drag, you realise that you're actually wrong.
Naming and relative performance mean very little when both Nvidia and AMD keep shuffling the naming around to blow smoke up gamers arses.

I tested it, on every single Blackwell card. +375 actual MHz (not MT/s == marketing MHz) that's +3000 in the OC tool you're using (that shows you "2000")
Thank you for the clarification!

No, that's retail pricing. Scalpers will drive the prices even higher.

The retailers are the scalpers now. The scalpers isn't even trying to buy this crap. Here we have the 5080 & 5090 in stock and it's the retailers charging +400$ - +1000$ for these cards.

A little better price/perf compared to last gen. But it's still a $750 (+tax) card that can't push 4k@60fps in Cyberpunk, an almost 5 years old game.

@W1zzard Is it possible to list frequencies in GHz instead of MHz, so these slight clock variations won't appear as overclocks anymore? Personally, I would not even mention variations under 5%.

No. Clearly Nvidia is not concerned about any competition or competitive pricing. I'm saying AMD has the best opportunity they've had in years to hit a wide open market of people looking for better perf/price so if they don't screw that up their cards should sell well this gen. Has nothing to do with forcing nvidia to better pricing as they clearly don't care about selling gaming gpus anymore.

This is the only place I've found paper-prices: https://www.acelerait.es/catalogsearch/result/?q=rtx+5070
4070ti is from yesterday in pcccomponentes
1740070699803.png
1740070865860.png

You have two option you can by a 4070ti for 1200-1400€ or you can buy a 5070ti for
You have one option.

Btw, the trend in Spain is: there are no cards in any site unless you buy a prebuilt system (pccomponentes, neobyte, pcspecialist, coolmod, etc.)

Prebuilt systems consists con crappy combinations of cpu, ram, disk, psu and horrible cases with the GPU you want for 2500€, up to 3500€ for crappy combinations on the other side (uberpexpensive mobos, or 1600W psu: usless features).

There are actually cards, buy they want you to buy them with their crappy useless stock of cheap B650 with 4000, 4600 or 5000mt CL40 RAMs.

No leak has ANY merit. Don't cite them. When people ask for a source they want tangible info not garbage rumors.
Until the manufacturer announce the MSRP and we have reviews to see the actual performance of the cards there is no actual reliable source for definitive info, so either you don't comment or speculate anything until you have these two things,
or you try based on the available info/leaks and your understanding of the situation to make a good judgement/guess.
This is nothing new, everyone knows this, it's basic stuff.
Why are you wasting my time?
The link from w1zzard's text that probably RX 9070 series won't match the performance of RTX 5070Ti is garbage rumors also?

What a bargain THAT was also to force nVidia bring the super so fast
I'm not following. Super came over a year after 4080 (over 14 months), and was closer to 5080 by a small margin (12 months).

4080: Nov 15th, 2022
Super: Jan 31st, 2024
5080: Jan 29th, 2025

So fast? I mean, in a two year and two months window, when would be a better time to launch it?

You're making no sense lol

and with a cheaper and also fake MSRP.
Nowhere near as bad as now.

Impossible to find != fake price, Best buy sold them at MSRP for instance and pcpartpicker still have price history showing the same thing for various models. Also, not really hard to find people who have bought it for that price.

No, I'm not talking about Europe.

4080@$1200 was so bad in value when launched that the negative critics forced nVidia to bring the 4080S@$1000 very faster than planned to fix their marketing image as being more customer friendly but the fake MSRPs were applied back then also. All those MSRPs are to give nVidia the benefit of doubt from the reviewers and show their GPUs not as ridiculously expensive as they are in street pricing. As for pricing elsewhere than USA, EU has VAT and thus, 7800XT@€500 is by far the best b4b GPU for any sensible PC gamer who isn't crazy about RT or maxed out graphics @4K.
