is hdmi port on my monitor damaged? vga is fine but flickering with hdmi

so yesterday i finally gave a check to the issue i have been having for quite sometime, initially i thought it was an issue with my gpu and never tried to verify for several months. So yesterday i used an hdmi to vga converter and found out media player (the new one in windows 11) doesn't flicker with it

also when drivers for gpu are not installed it doesn't flicker with hdmi as well, my monitor has only 1 hdmi and vga port, im completely sure the hdmi port is broken because i tried dvi to hdmi cable as well as vga cable converter was connected to hdmi port of the gpu, the only thing left is dp but i am pretty sure it won't change a thing. I have tried different cables as well a few times in the past as well as last night when i was diagnosing.

as i don't have money to buy a new monitor, can my hdmi port be replaced or repaired for cheap? considering that is the issue with my monitor and almost every symptom points toward it.

Did you try a different cable or cleaning the HDMi slot?

Sounds to me like a cable issue. Try a higher quality one.

did u unplug and plug it from time to time or accidently knocked it with the cable in the port, the hdmi port could potentially be loose now
and very little contact with the pcb..

wait vga... port available, the monitor must be quite old then could be over the years wear and tear... from use

and very little contact with the pcb..

yes i used to unplug and plug it alot in the past but i think issue persisted before that iirc. My brother bought it used, the monitor is not that old though it was launched in 2015-16.

What cables (as in, brand and model) did you try? What monitor is it?

My 4K TV had the same flickering issue until I swapped to some expensive Club3D cable.

they are all cheap cables except one which looks premium and is gold plated as well (not completely sure though if it's decent quality but that one also has the issue) but all should be fine as it's digital and the normal looking one that i already hooked up on my monitor having trouble since months worked fine with vga port with converter so it can't be the cable.

No, it's not all fine, and a gold plated connector doesn't mean much in terms of the quality of the actual cable. I don't know what's different in the internals (material quality, I guess), but they really do make a difference. If your monitor is 4K 60 Hz, or 1440 high refresh, then go for a high quality, HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 rated cable, you won't regret it. Trust me, I used to be just as sceptical as you.

i have a modest 1080p 60hz monitor, so do you think the cable still matter? i think my all cables are hdmi 1.4

Nah, you're right - it doesn't matter much at 1080p 60.

Could it be an issue with the converter? Modern GPUs don't have analogue signal output, and I don't know what kind of black magic VGA converters use to still output a signal.

actually output is fine with vga, i think it's an active adapter.

I don't know if it will be helpfull, but my zotac gtx 1070 ti mini has bad display port so it's not that strange that You could have bad hdmi.
For gtx 1070 ti it's known issue that it has faulty display port in some batches. So if You have some dp cable lying around You can check it too.
I've bought even dp cable with vesa certificate beacouse I thought it was problem with cable, but after changing to hdmi it is quite stable, best was dvi for me.

And is there any thing that why You don't wanna to use vga in monitor? even if it is working?

You don't have other hdmi device which You can connect computer to test if it is not the gpu side?

as i have said before i have tried the dvi to hdmi cable but i failed to mention that it was using dvi port on the gpu, two ports can't be bad especially since one of them being barely used, this thing only points towards something going wrong with the monitor.

If the HDMI port has lose pins someone so skilled to be able to repair it will cost you much more than the 1050ti is worth
