She did the probing because of her proximity, but it was a few other family members that put in the legwork/cost for the gift. Nonetheless she's absolutely a keeper hehe.

I wasn't ready to buy myself and rops is one of the reasons(even if you can RMA there would be a wait), 50 series has had a rough start and I was waiting for the dust to settle and AMD to launch too. I guess I got lucky, all the rops, and I got it right at the launch (one family member happens to be exceptionally good at not missing out on anything she wants to buy that's in high demand..)

Couldn't agree more. Lets just hope retail outlets don't overprice above MSRP because I remember looking at Amazon and Canada Computers, and the entire RDNA3 lineup was $200-$300+ above MSRP, which makes no sense. If the 9070's are well above the MSRP for the base models, people are not going to be happy & the blame goes to the retail outlets.
They are very likely to increase the price above MSRP...

Look at what happened to those 5000 GPUs' prices....

You're right, I just wanted to see even more aggression like $549 / $449 respectively.

But we'll see how things go. Depending on how the reviews shake out, I'm still considering a 9070 XT as a "tide me over" card to next gen. I need more than 12GB at 4k.

I have reason to believe there will be good stock levels at close to MSRP on 3/6 and it's making think hard about selling my 4090 due to the insane prices they are going for at the moment. I will have to buy the 9070XT first and give it a real chance to prove itself of course but that's not an issue right now.

Where are you getting that from? The slide showed the 9070 as +21% vs the 7900GRE for the same price...
I saw 20% vs GRE. The GRE is 10% faster than the 7800 XT according to the TPU database. 20% + 10% = 22%.

The TPU database is at 4K so you should probably us the +21% vs the GRE as that was also at 4K rather than mixing and matching 1440p and 4K data.

As for the calculation it should be as follows.

7800XT = 100
7900GRE = 110
9070 = 110 * 1.21 = 133

So 33% more performance for 10% more money.

This assumes the AMD benchmarks are close to reality of course which we will find out tomorrow.

If we accept that 9070 is 20-21% over GRE, it lands over 3090Ti

Or we can base on their claim that 9070 XT is 26% faster than RTX 3090, which should then position it between RTX 3090 Ti and RTX 4080.

I guess the game suit that AMD and TPU is using is different.
Because if you take the first AMD comparison with 6900XT +51% you are right above the XTX, but with 3090 +26% you end up above 3090Ti.

Exactly.
It's too late for me to draw such a conclusion, but because AMD's performance data is so far apart, we'll just have to wait for other tests.
