BenQ, a global innovator of visual display technology, has launched three new successor models for the EW Series, the EW3290U, EW2790Q, and EW2790U. With a wider color gamut for video watching, high-quality built-in speakers, and certified eye-care technology, the EW series provides convenience and simplicity for every lifestyle.

"Building upon existing user-friendly features like eye-care technology and an integrated charging hub, our revamped entertainment monitors provide an elevated audio-visual experience for users seeking an all-in-one desk setup upgrade," said House Wei, Senior Director of BenQ North America. "From binge-watching to business meetings - BenQ has you covered."

Providing great color coverage for a better visual experience, video and content watching are enhanced with these UHD/QHD EW series monitors. HDRi Gen 2 Dynamic Contrast Adjustment creates better visual details in dark environments for late-night movies or binge-watching, and colors pop with wider color gamut coverage.

EW series monitors also offer the convenience of treVolo built-in speakers for quality audio without the need for external speakers, optimizing desk space utilization and meeting users' needs to enjoy video content.

Designed for all lifestyles, the EW series has two UHD 60 Hz models, the EW3290U and EW2790U, and one QHD 100 Hz model, the EW2790Q. The EW3290U has a remote control for easy media and setting navigation. Equipped with multiple advanced connectors, 65 W USB-C and HDMI*3, the EW series frees up desk space and helps users simplify and manage cable connections.

Each EW series monitor provides certified eye care technology with Brightness Intelligence Technology (B.I. Tech) Gen 2, which detects lighting scenarios and adjusts the screen for user comfort, and Display Pilot 2 for manual on-screen adjustment software. These technologies ensure that the display reduces blue light while maintaining vivid colors.

Enhancing entertainment and lifestyle needs, the new EW series monitors provide convenience, simplicity, and optimized space utilization for users to enjoy a balanced lifestyle between productivity and enjoyment. The scenario hotkey emphasizes ease of use by making it simple for users to toggle between different scenarios.

  • The EW3290U retails for $449.99 and is the successor model to the EW2720U and EW3280U.
  • The EW2790U retails for $299.99 and is the successor model to the EW2880U.
  • The EW2790Q retails for $259.99 and is the successor model to the EW2780Q.

Whoa, wait a friggin minute....

A monitor with "REAL" speakers.....how dare they :D

But it's googly time now, to find out the specs for them, to see if they are indeed "REAL", as in more than the typical 2-5w tin can-sounding parts that most monitors have !

I hope they are significant, as my IT guys are putting together their purchase orders right for new monitors for all our office staff (~186 people), and these would really go well with the "lets lighten up the office" mantra that the execs started pushing on Jan 1....which included solar panels, downstream skylights, and mood-sensing lighting fixtures everywhere...

This isn't BenQ's first attempt at that. I've had the EX2710Q for a couple years which has similar "real" speakers (2W x2 + 5W woofer) but cleaner looking than this new one it's like a built-in soundbar. They were shockingly good when I first heard them and being front firing certainly helps. Has different sound profiles and even some base. So I got rid of my desktop sound monitors and just use these now when not using headphones so much cleaner. I figure when I upgrade to an OLED monitor I'll look for something with these again.

The spec sheet is right there in the article. They are, indeed, 2-5W speakers. The most expensive model also has a 5W woofer which… I have no idea if that would even make a difference.

If the display is up close, then no, not really. If further away, then yes the lower wattage will matter.
I meant that I was skeptical that adding a very weak sub-woofer would make much difference to the sound quality compare to the basic dual speaker setup on the cheaper models.

Oh, I see. And to that I would say yes, again up close. I have a Dell Vostro 3750(yes I know, it's old, but it's runs fine) laptop with a builtin subwoffer and I've done the connected/disconnected comparisons and it makes a difference to sound quality and sound range but only within about 1.5m to 2M range. Outside that, not so much.

Yea, I saw that chart, but I was referring to the technical audio specs, like the frequency ranges, approximate sound level capabilities etc....
