Totally laughable. Second PC I have owned running Vista with no speed issues, driver issues or ANY issues. Vista is not outselling XP because of people's unwillingness to learn anything new. If anything, Vista is just a big bad monster that makes you all afraid of the dark...........

Every man his own. Just because YOU haven't had any problems doesn't mean others aren't. I had some major problems with Vista, and still am. The fact is I'm having to turn off tons of options just to play games normally like I did on XP. I've had to install custom drivers to mess around with sound channels, simply because my sound wasn't working right in a particular game. Countless other things I could talk about. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Vista is the worst thing that has ever been released in the software community, but it's certainly not the best.

Frustrated? Maybe that's why they are not Vista fanboys and have the common sense to see that Vista is no better then XP for none gaming use!

Truth be told all OS's and software have been created with the intent to further ones knowledge, video games were just extra and still are just extra. I mean sure I love video games as much as you all but think about it, Mac OS's are mainly superior in video editing programs, Linux is best primarily for the lack of bugs and virus attacks for it, and Windows is primarily for businesses. Microsoft loves its game followers very much but it had a choice to make. Whether you think they made the right choice with Vista or the wrong choice with Vista thats only each persons opinion, not the whole worlds opinion.:toast:

If games on Vista are just "extra" then why did they make DX10 a Vista only feature? Additionally, why did Windows launch "Games for Windows" on Vista launch? It's not an extra to them in my opinion.

I agree, Vista is just fine, but I'm an advanced user with more than 2gb of RAM on all three of my machines. While I don't agree with a LOT of Microsoft's business policies, Vista is a good operating system.

I waited nearly a year to purchase Vista, I got both flavors and I'm glad I did. Necessary evil.

Direct X 10 however is a JOKE and needs time for people to develop for it, (if they are willing to) Id comes to mind.

Major bitches about Vista are the UAC and the Software Protection crap, also Defender is a peice of crap and the Firewall is just scary.
Eventually people will have to have Vista so I jumped on the bandwagon and I'm fairly satisfied.
Cheers!

The whole vista package is a failure from the get go, for example; why all the version for pretty much the same thing.

THE BEST quote ever about vista was when Steve Jobs was introducing Mac Leopard OS. He said we got alot of versions, shows the box for leopard "Home Basic $149, Home Premium $149, Ultimate $149 etc" I never laughed so hard

Explains it all really

Lol I remember him saying that like 2 hours into his keynote, was great. Also, if your a college student you can get Leopard for 69.99$.

I dont' undestand the fuss about "so many versions".
XP had three versions (Home, Pro, Media Center).
Vista has four (basic, home premium, business, ultimate)
There is an enterprise version, but no one I know uses that.

Also, students can get Vista Home Premium upgrade for $69.99 too.

They forgot one reason. I don't like being forced into buying Vista, just so I can get DX10. I don't like being forced into anything. I don't like when big companies try to take advantage of peoples ignorance either, not that I'm ignorant (to this anyways). I'm not anti-microsoft. I love bill gates, me and him would be good buddies. I would just like a DX10 UPGRADE FOR MY WINDOWS XP, and screw you if I have to buy another OS to use it. Especially if it's going to hassle me EVERY time I put a new piece of equipment in my computer. Anti-Piracy? What having 50 BILLION dollars isn't enough? They were doing fine when half the world was pirating their software anways, does it hurt their feelings that we like it that much? It sure wasn't hurting their pocketbooks very much. They make most off there money off of other corporations anyways, just like everybody else.

Yes, there were WAYYY to many versions. Just like XP. How bout this. Microsoft Windows Vista, and Microsoft Windows Server 2008--thats all we need and want. How friggan hard is that. People like choices, but they don't like being confused, OR mislead.

M$ just blatantly ignore the real issue which is the still majority of computer that run perfectly on XP would be obsolete on Vista and that is the main reason why people are reluctant to move to vista.

I remember a long time ago when I was reading an interview in PC Gamer or somewhere with an MS rep when they were talking about "Longhorn" and how they were going to make it much more gamer oriented than XP and that there would probably even be a Gamer/Entertainment version of Longhorn.

So much for that. If there was a gamer version all it would have is DX10 and the new interface.

They forgot to mention it is trash, digital garbage!!!

I've tried to move to Vista 3 times, it made me want to kill someone each time. I didn't have problems with compatibility, more so the fact that my computer ran so much faster with XP despite all the hype where people claim its faster. I never experienced that.

Get Vista pre installed in a new computer you buy thats when you dont see a difference sinc the newer computer will more than likely have better hardware than your old one:D

Vista works just fine for me:toast:
No long start up times and definitely no long loading times other than from my slow disc burner on my laptop:toast:

Granted, I have a higher end system, but this is TPU so if you are here you should have one or at least be OC'ing like a crazed weasel.

I have had no compatibility problems with software and Vista found everything on my mobo without the need for a f6 install.

I do agree that Vista is not a major upgrade to XP. But ultimate has a lot of nice stuff in it that makes my life easier.

Eh, I really don't want to pay almost $10,000 for a new computer better than mine with it preinstalled cause thats about how much a system slightly better than mine would cost from a prebuilt vendor.

I'm not saying it didn't work fine, it did. Just not how I wanted it to work.

i think the major problem is OEM's that load the OS on PC's that barely meet minimum specs and dont even reach anywhere near recomended specs. thing runs like molasses on a cold morning and thats not wha someone who buys anew pc is looking for.
