Zalman's cooling solutions are pretty popular among graphic card manufacturers and the latest confirmation for this is Micro-Star International (MSI) and its new Zilent Series. The new family of video cards only includes one product for starters, the MSI NX8800GT Zilent Series, a GeForce 8800 GT card equipped with a VF1000 cooler that has aluminum fins (as opposed to the regular VF1000 which is all-copper). The new dual-slot cooled card is said to be 9% cooler and 20% quieter than the standard GT's. No price tag and release data have been unveild.

Interestingly they have also not sinked those bottom 3 mosfets and if you look closely it still has that original cooler white skunk on it! I thought they can order cards without the cooler if they use their own, or have they cherry picked these from the original lineup?

Doubt those aluminum fins do that much of a difference i temps, Accelero S1 has aluminum ones and cools the card like no other. It does however also have a cheaper mounting base, not copper again, but probably less prone to bending.

edit:
If I'd not have VF900 and this is reasonable price I'd buy it. Would save the trouble of making my own ramsinks, but that's part of the fun. Might not look pretty, but will cool as much as that metal plate on mem :) Just looks though I have to wait a year to get a 8800GT, I don't want a year old GPU ;( Soon 2 months waiting for one and I though few weeks waiting for my current card was long.

IF any thing like EVGA as from what they tolde me there cherry picked as you call it. And they test how fast they can run.

IMO the benefit of one of these is that it's pre-fitted and therefore you dont have to do it yourself, my AC Accelero S1 performs amazingly....especially with a near silent 120mm fan......check my specs and it's dirt cheap and was fitted in 5 minutes, I am sure you could buy a reference card and add the S1 for cheaper and cooler.

So...... 9% cooler than a reference GT cooler? I always wondered, does anybody add thermal paste to where the aluminum fins "sleeve" over the heat pipes? or is that just metal to metal? That would help out some aluminum fins, maybe.
