In response to NVIDIA's recent interest in the mobile phone market, AMD would like to clarify that they already have a fine market share in the mobile phone market, and that they plan on increasing said market share. At the 2008 Mobile Phone conference in Barcelona, AMD unveiled three brand new Imageon processors. Out of these processors, one is a TV tuner chip, one is an audio processor, and the last is an "application processor" which can run 3D games. For full details and concept pictures, please follow the source link.

good news for AMD - branching into other markets is a smart move right now.

although, I wonder just who'll fare better in this market, AMD or nVidia - I place my money on AMD.

They've actually been a leader in the market for quite a while already. These are just new product releases.

AMD Creates New Imageon Mobile CPUs in Response to NVIDIA CPUs

Yep! That's exactly what they did! They just all gathered together over the weekend and built a couple of new mobile CPUs, a mobile GPU and a shiny new chrome toaster for the next episode of battlestar galactica... :wtf:

Can someone name one device that uses Imageon please?

AMD is always in the news. One day it makes a bold announcement, the next day we get news reports of its products coming up design flaws / failing to live up to commitment of those announcements they make well in advance.

Not off the top of my head, but I know LG produced a "gaming" phone with an Imageon. AMD actually has a big chunk of the market for mobile phone graphics.

Sadly, this has been true the past couple of years. I really hope they get things back in order soon.

Yep! Most of Motorola's phones as well as some Fujitsu, BenQ-Siemens, Samsung, LG and many many more.

Check AMD's site for more info: http://ati.amd.com/products/handheld/onboard.html

This is simply not true. The reason you might have that impression is because of all the negativity caused by intel and nvidia fanboys who try to convince everybody that everything AMD is somehow flawed.
Most people around here don't really pay attention to them and you shouldn't either.
