Zalman VF-700 and 900 should both work, a few 8800GT's use the VF-700 so it should cool the GS also.

I put the Zalman VF900-CU on my XFX 8800GS because you can't adjust the fan control. You can on the VF900-CU. It is also a good card to me, I had a XFX 7950GS before and this one is faster then it.

you can adjust the fan in riva tuner you just have to add a line to the device list.

I asked Unwinder if he would add it to Rivatuner, but think he misunderstood me.reviatuner don't recognize the card, and I have no idea what line to add.

i'm testing the 8800 gs from evga right now, review soon ..

overall benchmark summary:

it's by far the best bang for the buck card on the market right now in my opinion, even better than near-future nvidia products

well ive jsut been surfing and reading reviews on the 8800GS vs 3850, and my conclusion and summary would be this.

the two cards are almost completely even, trading blows on different games and even on the same game at different resolutions, but one fact did surface that makes all the difference.

as soon as you go for AA and AF the 8800 BLOWS the 3850 away completely, seriously, there wasn't really even one game where and when AA and AF were applied and the 8800GS lost, imo guys this is really clear cut.

this was one of the best sources of my figures, its in German or sommin, but you don't need to speak German to read bar graphs.
http://www.hardtecs4u.com/reviews/2008/asus_en8800gs_top/

i cannot speak for every gamer but nowadays i cant stomach a game without at least AA, which makes the 8800GS the clear winnar of the 2 cards. bam.

why did AMD fire all the ATi guys? I feel thats why the drivers haven't improved the AA+AF performance over time.

Hmm Im thinking about getting one of the 8800gs myself in the next month or two. Also considering a 512mb 3850. Has any one seen anybenchmarks comparing the 512mb 3850 to the 8800gs? I have only seen them comparing the 256mb 3850 which of course is going to suffer at higher resolutions. Plus I am interested on how high you can clock these 8800gs on stock voltages with a decent cooler, are they just crippled 8800gt chips that can be unlocked with a simple bios flash? If so it would be a great deal.

hmm looks like their pretty much even, yet the 8800gs is slightly cheaper. Im wondering though how far you can push the 8800gs with just software mods. Would it be possible to unlock the stream processors, basically making it an 8800gt with less memory bandwith or is the 8800gs a different chip?

edit: do you guys think the price will drop on these when the 9600gt hits, also how will they stack up against the 9600gt. For now my modded 8600 is fine but in the summer I might try to get something new.
