seems like nvidia is out of fresh ideas for now , no new architecture just revisions ......... a good time for Ati to deliver something like the x800 revolution .................. :nutkick:

every time i see someone talking about nvidia and its use of a mature but old tech...i seem to get it more and more why ati is better...they always try new things...they could have went the same development ways of the 8800 but chose a new archi... now that it seems to be tapering off i wonder what nvidia is going to do after this release...not saying that they aren't gonna surprise us with something new but will that something new keep them on top...but anyways we will see.

It just means that Nvidia is still working on it. Ditto for ATI.

Just b/c there's not a new core every 6-12 mo. does not mean they're going to release revisions forever.

Nah, both Nvidia and ATI know they have enough sheep in their flocks to annually churn out slightly update cards but on the bright side this trend lowers the cost of the slightly older cards meaning patient customers make the best purchases.

even tho this is bad news for most, i find it to be just the opposite, as i just purchased a g92 gts, and it will remain one of the top cards for another year =) im sure others with a g92 based card can relate

You can do tri-SLI on your GTS?

How is that?:wtf:

Then it wouldn't be on top would it. :p

Just playin with ya.;)

Benchmark Scores A million on everything....
I think if they had like 192 or 256 Stream Processors, that would be cool, and like 48 ROPs, At 32nm they will probably do that, I think. That would be godly on nvidia cards, think if you doubled the specs of the 8800gtx.

I don't understand why graphics chips change so much, and keep getting more things like ROPs, and Stream Processors... but CPUs never really get that many add-ons, I think they should stick some stream processors in a CPU and then BAM instant "fusion" right? Maybe not that simple, but you don't need a whole new core just to integrate a GPU into a CPU, you just add some stream processors here, some ROPs, and sprinkle some magic dust on, wallah! Godlyness... Nobody wants to change computers, I don't get it. They could be so much better.

I think GPUs are evolving WAYYYY faster than CPUs, yeah cpus are in the Ghz, but they need to be because they cant do enough in one cycle, they just need more parts added on.... We don't need more Mhz, we need more FPUs and ALUs and all that crap... wtf...

Oh yeah, and GPUs should go into zif sockets on your MOBO, not slots, and they should have a ram slot like a dimm maybe... Then you could stick a Therlmalright tower cooler on your gpu. And always swap your slow stick of old DDR4 video ram for a new GB stick of DDR8 later.

I highly doubt that Nvidia can just keep adding ROP's and shaders. They are going to eventually have to completely redo the architecture. I have a feeling that we will see the real next generation cards at the end of this year or the beginning of next.

It better be faster than a 8800 Ultra at least.

Hmmm. I'm real interested on how this will perform on highly-complex graphical games such as Crysis, COD4, and others.

Nvidia has to pay some sort of outrageous premium (to I think AMD/ATi) to use anything beyond GDDR3 through some sort of contract or stipulation.
