ive got a free mobo with some free 128mb of ram, it uses shared graphics memory aswell so that 128 is used up even more.

what i am wondering is can i take the plastic agp cover off one of my old mobos and kind of stick it on, as it seems to have soldering points where one could go. i have attached a picture for you to look at.

There are things like caps and resistors missing as well. It's not worth the trouble, plus there is no way of knowing it'll work.

A lot of other things associated with an AGP slot (like diodes / resistors / capacitors) won't be present if there's no slot and just a place-holder. It's not as easy as soldering a slot on to make it available. Look closely around the slot, you'll find several place-holders for diodes/capacitors. Taken, you find out exactly what to 'add' but will you be able to solder minute components such as those tiny resistors/diodes? Is the BIOS configured to take that AGP slot? Not worth the hassle.

buy a cheap new board with agp or get a pci express board and a really cheap old pci express card

OR get a pci card i know there were pci ati 9000 radeon series

man are you stupid it might not have the lanes for it or something most likely they just decided to disable agp on that board

This board has the Intel 845GV chipset. Intel 845GV was never meant to have an external AGP slot though ASRock managed to work out a MacGyver AGI 8X which is a 'compatible slot' with several limitations.

I have to not agree, if all parts were there it be tricky and you would have to remove the solder to get the connector there. You have to be good though due to heat.

As for this working i bet most parts are missing

if you do it it would be cool to show us "how" you did it. I solder a lot to mobos but I cant even imagine how much of a pain it would be to try this.

Thats a lot of pins, I would probably try a heatgun (to solder all the pins at once)
