Yes, we do more than AIM and email & web browse, but imagine how fast they could web browse with a quad at 3.8!!! hehe

I just think its hilarious when we think a quad 3.8 isnt fast enough any more! And trust me, Im on the boat too, the day I got my q I had it running 3.7, and it wasnt fast enough, only because there was a qx that could do more. Whenever something faster is out, its never gonna be enough

and your right trog, when it comes to pure performance, money doesnt matter, but Im sure most of us here are not loaded and have the ability to spend a G at the drop of a hat. I may crave and desire the best performance, but Im not gonna foolishly spend 1000 on a proc.

Its all about the budget baby! Now dont get me wrong, if I won the lottery, Oh man it would be the works!

i work at best buy and only have insurance to pay for my car. So i don't really have bills. im 18, and almost done with high school, use my parents camery (technically my car) but i just don't have bills and this is my only hobby.

as soon as im done with school, its going in. so maybe another hour or two.

btw all the benches will be server 08

That is a link to my Maximus Formula thread @ XS, more than enough info in there to get you peak performance, settings, every bios so far, user experiences, tweaks...everything!

And the vDroop mod, tiny pencil mod, takes 2 seconds. But if you enable Loadline Calibration you should get next to no vDroop anyway unless your PSU isn't up to the task of powering a Quad?

that is one crazy system! I was checking that out yesterday at futuremark! those are some great numbers, especially with a sinlge x2, I wonder what can be done with 2.

Yes you can shoot for the moon and these crazy numbers, but I like to achieve the best numbers possible, and have a system that a low level IT guy can afford(with house payment, car payment, insurance for both, school loans, and many other expenses)

PLL voltage sometimes helps with high FSB OCs, but be careful and stay below 1.9v or you will kill the chip. it will wear it out very quickly, if too much voltage is applied

1.9 might even be alittle high.....

I run my FSB at 1.35 v I can run 1.25 but it does random restarts every other day or so.

honestly freak,

I would start at stock settings, push until it needs more volts, and slowely work your way up.

No need to push things and possibly use more volts than you need, that just causes more heat

Infact, why dont you start at stock, run some benches, and as you go, take benches the whole way so you can document your speeds/results

for the VCORE on air I would top out around 1.45 or so. You prob wont need that much for a 3.6ghz
