NVIDIA Launches 790i Chipset

Following the release of its GeForce 9800 GX2 graphics card yesterday, NVIDIA has launched its new nForce 790i SLI and 790i Ultra SLI chipsets. Both versions support up to 1600MHz FSB and 2GHz DDR3 memory modules, as well as being capable of running Quad SLI. For full details, check out NVIDIA's product pages. The main difference between the two chipsets seems to be improved overclocking abilities for the Ultra model.

Still no sign of new nvidia chipsets for the phenom? Why the hell are they dragging their feet on this?

The chipset for AM2+ called NForce 780a SLI is launched, the ASUS Crosshair II Formula is its first implementation. The NForce 790a SLI will go hand in hand with socket AM3 (DDR3, AMD SandTiger compatible)...maybe the Crosshair II Extreme is based around that.

The NForce 790i Ultra SLI is to go head-on against the Intel X48 (and indirectly, ATI Crossfire X)

Sweet, i've been waiting for republic of gamers board for the phenom, i'm just surprised they are taking their sweet time with the release.

As for new nforce790i going against X48, i think that X48 will probably be better, but it cant do SLI only xfire.
