good tips on modding for beg's
hey Fox34, nice article, even thou you wrote it awhile back its still good. I've been trickin my rig out ever since I got the big fat clear window last Feburary. One thing I didn't see ya say anything about was swapping out molex connectors. I hated those plain jane white and black SATA ones, so I had to learn on my own but there's places like Xoxide, PC extreme, XPCgear, etc that have the wire sleeving & heat shrink, plus the UV molexes and the tools to swap'em out with, along with some tips and guides. Oh yeah If ya buy the kits throw the little plastic molex pin remover away and get ya the little 4 piece kit. trust me you'll be glad you did, I broke the little plastic one on the 3rd pin I removed and was dead in the water for days.
I 've got a shot of my Power Up 2536 Silver ATX Mid Tower here thats a bit modded and right now today I'm waiting on UPS to get here with a green UV power supply cover, some red LED case feet, a blue LED crablike memory cooler to go with a multicolored LED twin fan HDD cooler I got in last week so I can put it all together tonight. I'll get some shots of it after I'm done loading all the new goodies in and post em in the modding gallery.
Oh yea, Fox, do I understand you have a Athlon 64 3500 Venice that you've stomped on a bit ?
I do too, and I've stepped on it a little : ref clock(HTT) 210mhz,CPU multipler 11x, CPU core freq 2310mhz, memory bus 420mhz (DDR), Ref clock PCI -E 2700mhz, 1.4 Volts, and temps under load are CPU 26C, System 34C, nForce 49C, ATI Radeon HD 2600 512 mb : GPU Clock 601mhz & its Memory @ 405 mhz, with temp at 42C. All of this is on a WinFast 939 mobo.
Any suggestion ?? I'm sure I can do better and not worry about heat since I've got a monsterous Vantec convex alum heatsink with a 90mm Vortex fan plus my case is loaded with fans. I've been reading about lowering the multipler so I can pump up the core, but as of now I'm still reading..... any help you or anyone else has is welcome .
