for those of you who are looking for a 'decent' gaming laptop that may/may not (hopefully not) break the bank - I highly recommend the Asus G1s/G2s laptops - the G1s is more of a MMORPG'ers wet dream then a FPs'ers rampage but then thats why theres the G2s

there are different models of the G2s (the G2sK being one of them)

they are both solid laptops - my cousin has the G1s & its amazing.

The G2s is a 17" as apposed to the 15"4 G1s so is more pricier but id say its worth the money.

alternatively if you are out for a 17" gaming laptop the cheapest DELL XPS 1730 with the single 8*00M GT is more then enough.

If you want a rock laptop look at the model I have (Novatech X80r or the X80r pro).

They are identical to the rock brand laptops (ie the chassis and most of the internals are the same) however you don't pay brand markup (ie my laptop was a good £250 cheaper than the equivilant rock laptop which at the time had a free upgrade option on the screen (you normally have to pay extra for the 1920x1200 screen on the rocks))

Additionally my model doesn't have the stupid X symbol on the lid or the trackpad which imo looks daft on the rock.

EDIT: I should say that in total my laptop came in at just over £1300 which at the time I bought it was the cheapest laptop available (in the uk) with the 8800mGTX.

I have only ran 3DMark06 and scored a smidge over 8.5k. (167.43 drivers) everything @ stock.

Given that my processor only hums along at 2.1ghz I think its a pretty good score.

Benchmark Scores pppft, gotta see it to believe it. . .
I would never consider a laptop unless it met the graphical and processing performance of my desktop pc ( Which will never happen ).
AND when the battery is able to support 168 hours of nonstop hardcore gaming or encoding etc etc.

If you dont agree with me, then your probably satisfied with what you have! HEH!

I honestly don't know :)

I know reading various threads about the actual base design of the laptop (ie all the rocks , novatech, sager etc laptops that use the chassis all share the same core components so overclocking via software (the only way you can) is the same for each) that it is overclockable. Novatech at least also allow the changing of the processor and other accessible components (under the main door on the back) to be changed under warrenty (new parts bought from novatech will also be covered under the warrenty). I am quite tempted simply to open up the laptop and add in a T9300 (as the individual price of this chip still makes my laptop cheaper than the same laptop with the T9300 as standard).

Although given the native resolution of the monitor you will more likely be graphically limited before you will become cpu limited (dependant on the game).

As for the gpu well I simply havn't tried overclocking it yet.
