That leads me to the conclusion that either you are not picky about picture quality, have not actually watched many BD's (or HD DVD for that matter), Just hate the format for personal reasons, or you have a crappy TV.

dude, you just summed up all the arguments against blu-ray right there :toast:

If bluray was around $15 each I could see collecting them. They are $30 each where I live. :(

I'm planning to buy an 1080p lcd at some point this year to make the most of my ps3 games. However, I won't be buying blu-ray discs at current prices, simply because for a fraction of the price, you get a not so bad cinematic experience with a regular DVD. I've built a big DVD collection for the past 8 years, and I can't see myself building another one with blu-rays. It takes too much space and it's not really worth it, because I don't watch them more than 3 times unless it's incredibly good. I think blu-ray is probably the last disc based format we'll see. Downloadable films is the future. I've just had a brilliant idea for a movie site, iMovies... :)

Lol Wal-Mart just slashed their prices and amazon's prices also dropped...check these:

I'm quite sorry to break this to you guys, but the price argument is definitely over.

Lol @ vroom bang. The irony! You are planning on buying a 1080p yet downloaded HD can only be viewed in 720p and 1080i. Go waste you're money by doing great homework like that!

it's true. prices are dropping quickly. i was just at borders a few days ago and they had casino royale on sale for 15 bucks !!!! i also picked up 'there will be blood' for only 30 bucks!! yea, 30 is expensive but it is a brand new release. it will drop to 20 in a few months. i understand the price argument, but how can you justify spending +$1000 on a big screen hdtv and not justify watching the absolute best quality on it.

GREAT. Those prices are *much* more sensible.

Why the price drop?

that sentiment was due to the mis-education of the masses. competition with hd-dvd was delaying adoption which meant less supply which meant a higher price tag. now that hd-dvd is out of the way the course is clear for direct competition with dvd. and so now you see the price dropping as blu-ray pushes for broad adoption from dvd owners. as consumers we will want the price of blu-ray to eventually be equal to that of dvds. so on avg we should, as consumers, push the avg blu-ray down to 15-20 bucks by next year. if you think about it, it took dvd way longer for its price to drop as people switched from vhs.
