OMG, does Benq use the same marketing/PR as ASUS? It's ANOTHER "Worlds's first..." proclaimation!!!!

Yet another price of awful copywriting. PR department should fall on swords. IMO "World's first" is as bad, if not worse, than "Next gen", and "awesome".

PS. It looks awful too. Why does it have that dust/dirt collecting bevel at the bottom of the screen. It that another "World's first" ?

LOL.

Other naff marketing spin from Benq.

> "Consumers will be looking to Benq for..." (HAIL LEADER! WTF? Who looks to Benq for anything)

> "as a globally recognized innovator..." (Oh yes? Who exactly is doing this "official " recognition? You mean some granny somewhere? OK, well Benq is also a globally recognized me-too spin monster in my book. Quote that Benq!)

> "Benq will further pioneer..." OMG, I really do feel for those poor Benq guys, going it alone, out there, in the unknown world. If they manage to make it back, we should give them a medal. Perhaps the golden medal of Royal Aggrandisement.

> "Benq will expand HD thrill..." OMG, I can't wait. I've waited patiently on my sofa for the day I can plug into Benq's thrill. That's very kind of them to give us a thrill.

> "... extreme multimedia capability" WTF does that mean? I cannot fathom. Extreme, when linked with sports, means dangerous and dont-do-this-at-home. I'm not sure this applies to a boring sit-on-the-desk, beveled, budget TFT.

> "Our upcoming Full HD lineup in sleek LCD form makes 1080p viewing luxury a convenient possibility for all aspects of daily life, reaffirming our core competency in display innovation and our relentless pursuit of bringing enjoyment and quality to life through seamless merging of work and play" Oh hail long sentence spin bingo!

> "... display sporting a 1920x1080..." Er hello? I think that a badly misused verb there. Yes, I know you want to make the boring display should racey and sexy, but "to sport" means to wear with flair, ostentatiously, like a hat or a gay blazer.

These guys need a lesson in plain english http://www.plainenglish.co.uk/

TBH, I think WUXGA 1920x1200 is still better. Why? Because you can run it 1:1 mapping of 1080p if you want to. You would just get a small 1cm letter box at the top and bottom. OR you can have your media player control panels accessible while viewing without spoiling the HD through scaling.

But the BIG difference comes when using the TFT for productivity use. Anything under 1200 makes the use of MS OFFICE, or reading PDFs a pain due to the need to zoom and scroll rather than being able to have a full screen on the page at one time.

Personally, I would love to go WQXGA at 21", but they dont exist. :-(

Because you'd rather have the same resolution, except on a smaller monitor?

Well, that makes sense.

My dell laptop d810 has a 15.4" with 1920 x 1200 resolution. I think its adequate in this day and age, although the gpu (x300) is well under powered for todays gaming.

I have always found the resolutions on todays monitors abit weak for their sizes. For examply widescreen 19" : 1440 x 900. Surely 1680 x 1050 would be more optimal in this case.

Nice to see BenQ making the difference to the market, they used to do awesome LCD's but I guess the competition caught up.

1920x1200 on 15". Wow. Good stuff. Do you run the desktop at 120DPI rendering?

It's such a shame they dont make desktop TFTs with the same pixel density as laptop screens.

@lemonadesoda

Yep default WinXP font size ^^, need all the space for coding :)

Also makes multimedia look good too. It's a shame dell seem to have dropped WUXGA from the majority of their laptop range, I mean they did add it to their QuickSet program to be able to adjust the font size.

I really am waiting for the day when I can replace my 2x 1600x1200 SyncMasters that sit side-by-side with 2x 2560x1600, BUT WITHOUT NEEDED MORE DESKSPACE or a cricked neck. ie 19, 20 or 21" max for 2560x1600. :)

1920x1200 doesnt help. I've already got 3200 in the "x" but need more "y" for better DTP work.

No more spanning wallpapers with a gap lol or worse looking at the same image twice! :)
Prefer to have only one screen on the go, just gets annoying after a while when you loose your cursor on the other screen.

Use a seperate machine if you want to watch irc/webpages/msn since these are easy tasks anyway that even an old computer can handle.

Are BenQ changing their range: W = value and so on?

Gzero, if you have had difficulty using 2 monitors, then you need to try www.ultramon.com It adds a lot of features, including a stretch button and a swap button, and it makes the taskbar cover BOTH screens.

TBH, I PREFER 2 monitors because you have "hard" window controls on each screen. You can lock or manage applications to particular windows, etc. I often have two word documents open in separate screens (or PDF) and can compare, copy, paste, or have Illustrator in one, and Word in another, or PDF in one and Excel in another (REALLY HANDY FOR PROGRAMMING). Development environment in one screen, help screens and reference in the other. DONT try this via tiling on one screen. It is a mess.

You realize that 0.250" dot pitch is the minimum that you will be able to read, right?
I can't imagine why someone would want more desktop space on less screen area, in general, but due to the fact that it would be too small to use, makes it worthless.

I'm look forward to seeing desktop 17" with 1900*1200 resoultion, or 20" 2048*1536.
I think 15" 1024*768, 19" 1440*900 etc are wasting of money and those things are worthless.

lol everyones arguments aside, this is actually very good.

The price should be a lot lower than a 24" model, and i certainly would love 1080p on my lan rig, on a compact screen.

I wonder if it has HDMI input.

High pixel density makes text really sharp as long as the DPI is set correctly in the OS. Vista has good support for DPI adjustments (i.e. it actually works in most apps and system dialogs, unlike in XP.)
