My card is a sapphire, both of the bios attached to my signature are fine, the first one is @ stock speed, the second one overclocked, they both have powerplay but ovviously the first one offers more power savings.

Ok nice bro :D Just one more question, powerplay? And do i have "any" risk in flashing my bios with one of them?

Wich one would you recommend me? And if i flash to the "clocked" one, can i have it and play with it, with my stock cooler? :D Do i need like 100% on the fan all the time or? Beacuse i have max 30-33% fan while playing games @ stock speed! Over 33% sounds like an airplaine :D Sorry for all the questions, but i just want the best for my card :rockout:

Bless:rolleyes:

Hello guys,

I have modded another bios, this one is you want to push your card a little more and still have some sort of powerplay.

2D settings =550/1100/1.083

3D settings =795/1100/1.276

CCC settings are

clock limit = 990

ram limit = 1250

Plus a table fan profile has been added.

Please post your comments and let me know what do you think.

Thanks
I think you are not up to date. This bios doesn't increase the real voltage. The max is the same like the old one because the voltage regulater can only do 4 states which are hardware locked. Also the voltage value you have chosen for 3D doesn't excist. You can check this for you self with the new rbe 1.15. If you want, I can get a bios with a extreme large and high voltage range, but so long the voltage regulator can only do 4 states it stays the same since it is hardware locked.

Small question about you signature? Why do you take credits on something which isn't accualy yours. I leaked the orginal 105 bios before it got in the techpowerup bios database or anywhere else public on the internet. I worked with BAGZZlash on the superior powerplay patch and the edit option for the max overdrive values. Actualy we must thank BAGZZlash for giving us so great tool and the guy where I got the bios. Without it, you could'nt mod your bios. Just my 2 cents

Which version of the Sapphire HD4870 do you have? The Build by ATI or a custom build version of Sapphire? Why do you want another bios? If you want powerplay you can take 113-B50701-105 if you current bios p/n is 113-B50701-100.

hehe ok.... i have Sapphire Radeon HD4870 512mb ddr5 :p

My bios according to ATT beta is strange:

Video BIOS Information:

Version.....................: 011.006.000.003
Part Number..............: 113-AB68800-XXX
Date........................: 2008/07/24 06:37
Vram Type................: GDDR5

Why i want to change, i dont know, just asking if i should do it or not :p
Better stock speed or, haha i dont know :p

Just curious :p

I think you have a custom blue pcb of sapphire. I wouldn't recommand a flash with a the 105 bios because you card is different. You can edit one with RBE 1.15 to get superior powerplay but I am not sure if it works.

The superior powerplay is a working power management for the gpu. You only need it to get your card very cool with the stock cooler. Anyway the most of the heat is produced by the gddr5 ram so underclocking the ram will cool your card the most and reduce the power consumption a lot.

Ok i see, thanks for info on powerplay bro :) My card is running 2D @ 160/225 with lowest voltage, fan @ 28% = 44c idle :) With latest ATT Beta and vista x64 SP1 :)

Do you or anyone know how much i could clock this card with stock cooler , and play safe and stable? :)

The more heat is generated by the memory at higher clocks than the gpu? I think the difference may be a few C. You're right about power consumption of the gddr5. However, the most heat generated on any HD48xx is from the VRegs, and reguardless of how I clock my VRAM the temps stay within a difference of 5-10C from stock.

I realy have no idea. Every videocard is different with overclocking.

I have a drop of 30c when underclocking the ram to 200MHz (+/- 74c -> 44c)

hehe ok... thanks for answer! :)

My card was 78c idle @ 750/900 (stock speed) , Voltage 1.263 + fan 26% when i first plugged it in.

Did the CCC Fan fix and put fan @ 30%, It went from 78c to 70c idle, 750/900 Voltage 1.263.

Followed the guide here, and underclocked it to 160/225 with Voltage 1.083 and now its idle
44c!! Thats like HUGE ! hehe From 70c idle to 44c idle! :D

So underclock it sure do ALOT with stock fan on my card ! :) i recommend everybody to do it with stock cooler :) If they can :p

I found that bios here http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1305107/1

Did you get it before that?

Or is it you taking credit?

I have only modded a bios for my card with RBE (thanks Bagzzlash) and made it public.

But it's good to know that you are like that.;)

In regards to the voltage it seems to be that way, I never bothered to check the sensor reading, I have updated the bios.

Alright, but do you think that since the 4870 1gb card has 512mb more memory, it should thus require more voltage, or do you think I'll be fine using the same values as your tweaked bios? My main goal is simply to have sweet idle temps...and low power consumption at idle.

The amount of ram should not make a difference, but offcourse I haven't tested it myself, mine is a 512.

:twitch: Time for me to check that on my Visiontek. My sapphire was one of the first 4870 in the USA (don't quote me on that as a reason) and has always been a bit weird. Thanks a bunch man.

By the way does anyone have a power-play of the XOC?

Solution for vista 64bit SP1

hello everybody :)

Dont know if you already know this or not. But found a great program that auto disables "disable driver bla bla" in vista (F8) when you boot! :)

Instead of press F8 @ every reboot, there is a great program, that will do it for you.

iNFO:

ReadyDriver Plus install itself as boot.bin file, and then modifies Windows Vista Boot Configuration Data (BCD), which is then read by Windows Boot Manager (the bootloader for Vista) to load ReadyDriver. When Windows Vista boot loader reads BCD, it loads ReadyDriver which will then makes the appropriate selection to disable Signed Driver Signature Enforcement, based on what user choose to install. So in a way, ReadyDriver Plus manages to permanently disable driver signing enforcement in Windows Vista, both x32 and x64, by automatically select “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement” option in the “Advanced Boot Options” menu on system startup.

Im running it myself and its working great :)

As i said, dont know if im late with this news or not :p

Yes before I posted it on tweakers :), I am the_firefox ;). The guy who post this bios on tweakers.net and gave a copy to BAGGlash.

So let me understand this, because you were the first to post this bios from Ati on the net..you have ownership and should take the credit for it.

I apologize, I am a little slow in understanding, is that what do you mean?

Seems like catalyst 8.9 driver, fixed my fan table in ATT :)

Now i can run clocks with no problem and have fantable auto in ATT :D

Playing bioshock @ 820/1100 with stock cooler :)

ownership no, credit no because it would be leaked any sooner or later (my guess max 2 weeks later)

I only want to see BAGZZlash work credited

first of all thankyou for the bios and sharing what you know

i would like to ask you few things as follows

my his 4870 also came w/ the reference bios ( atm i am at asus top bios )

1: i would like to know what makes the tmin/spinup/powerramp/hyteresis change in your fan settings what does it do(other than that your fan numbers are that of asus top bios)

2: fix spin up bug is disabled (stock2.bin has it enabled, asus bios has it disabled). Are you using asus bios or stock2.

3:Is it possible to edit your attached bios and increase the clocks that of asus top bios ?(without any crashes)

4:My last question , do i still need att tools for switching 2d/3d profile or its all done better and auto(stupid question i know i do know from earlier post , the only reason to enable powerplay is to make att know that its enabled and allow me to lower voltage and clocks? a simple yes would do)

1) Once you change the fan setting to a look up table, RBE automatically changes those value but I have had no issues on that.

2) that bios has the spin up fix already, that is why it is greyed out.

3) You can increase the settings but I suggest you also implant the signature for CCC from the Asus top your whichever other bios you want to use, so your standard clock and memory values match.

4) The bios that I have attached to my signature, automatically switches from 2d to 3d but if you want to use lower values you should use Att especially if your memory clock is changing, because with ddr5 every time you change the memory clock you'll get a flicker and that is very annoying, however ATI is working on that, so I think in future the drivers will take care of that part.
