    Your PC ATM

Add some activated charcoal and you'll improve your air quality in no time

    Show us your backside!

Whelp... let's just say that there's a reason I'm asking for advice on a new case to move my system into in my other thread. But the pictures of the front side in that thread kind of hide the real ugly. Here's the zoomed out summary including the nest of cables and tube that I never prioritized...

    Question about Intel Optane SSDs

I have three of that exact model from Delock and no trouble with any of them. Though admittedly only one of my U.2 SSDs is PCIe 4.0, the other two are 3.0. I don't know if this matters any to you, but Delock also isn't some random Chinese alphabet soup company, they're a German company...

    Question about Intel Optane SSDs

That's not possible. No matter at what speed you set them at, you only have 16 PCIe physical lanes on the CPU. Turning that into more would require a PCIe switch. Those are very expensive. Also, the second slot might have the physical dimensions of x16 for compatibilty, but it's only wired for...

Cooler Master X Silent Edge Platinum 850 W

Alternate has been offering the 850W version for preorder for 289€ since the middle of march now... https://www.alternate.de/Cooler-Master/X-Silent-Edge-850-PC-Netzteil/html/product/100093166 They also had the 1100W for 299€, but that's listed as out of stock now...

Looking for a good case to migrate my hardware into

I started out with a post for the 'post your cooling' thread before I realized that I was really asking for advice on what case I should / could move my hardware to, so please forgive the preamble. I didn't want to just delete what I already typed up, but this seemed like it didn't really fit...

    Question about Intel Optane SSDs

Last I checked, even significantly above average usage of a system disk will only cause at most 20~30TB of writes a year. SSDs that have games or other data stored on them will usually get even less action My last system SSD (970 Evo 500GB) got 53TB of writes over a 4.5 year period, or...

Is the futureproof gaming solution a four drive system?

I've got a pretty stable energy grid where I live... my computer crashing is significantly more likely than a power outage, especially since I like to overclock.

Is the futureproof gaming solution a four drive system?

Learn something new every day Hmm... maybe. I certainly have RAM to spare when I'm not experimenting with large LLMs or something. Though I'm somewhat concerned about write caching to DRAM. Can you set it to read caching only?

    Question about Intel Optane SSDs

I treated myself to a P4800X... ... turns out the b-stock m.2 to u.2 adapter was delivered defective. Yay. I wonder how long that will take to resolve. But I use the adapter for one of my other u.2 drives to confirm that the P4800X is not defective - and won't need active cooling, unlike the...

Is the futureproof gaming solution a four drive system?

You guys do know that RAM caching tools have lost popularity because all* modern OS have integrated the functionality? *I think. Windows and Linux for sure, I'm not a MacOS user. Windows: You can look up usage in the task manager or the resource monitor (sorry for the German, but you can...

    Entry level 4K gaming RIG for cRPG and h'n's games - Ryzen 5 5600 + RX 7600?

I'd get the Pure Power 12 or PP 12M series instead. The PP11 is still an ATX 2.4 design, the PP12(M) is ATX 3.x - which significantly increases what kind of GPUs it can handle if you decide you want to upgrade in a few years. Also the PP12(M) gets 10 years of warranty whereas the PP11 only gets...

What is your 4090's Boost Clocks???

Truly? The lowest voltage I can set is 875mV, where my GPU will do 2550 MHz. I don't see any point in having a lower preset than that since the GPU will underclock dynamically if the game doesn't fully utilize the card.

What is your 4090's Boost Clocks???

What voltage are you running that at? That seems extremely aggressive, at least in comparison to when I last really paid attention to what kind of stock clocks people were getting. Most cards seemed to top out at 27x0 at 1.050V at stock, at least back in 2023. Your 2940@1050 is basically on...

What is your 4090's Boost Clocks???

Hmm... my Zotac 4090 extreme AIRO is limited to 110% max power. Known stable settings: OC: 2940MHz @ 1050mV Stock: 2745 @ 1050 Undervolt: 2550 @ 875 The card can just barely hit 3000MHz at 1050mV, but it's not a stable overclock and will cause issues. I could increase voltage to 1100mV, but...
