I just saw this

that's quite impressive, TBH, I'm a tad shocked by how well they performed - wasn't expecting them to best a single 4870 by that kind of margin.
Isn't a "primary necessity?" That's a very subjective statement -- gaming is a primary necessity for my computer, and all I've got is a 4670.![]()
Two 4830's in Crossfire would be incredible performance compared to just about any single GPU out there. Remember the reviews? When overclocked, the 4830 was equal to a 4850 -- it suffers very little from those missing stream processors.![]()
it depends I think on one's prefered style of game, as well as how cranked you like to have the IQ settings - I mean, if you play more RTS, then there isn't as much of a need for the sheer overkill of higher cards . . . but FPS, though, can be a different story.
Personally, I'm an advocate for multi-GPU setups. Once you get over that initial laodout min-stuttering, they're smooth as cream. Once you try two at one time, though, it's hard to go back to just one

I'll defi give you the fact that 4000 series OC to the next card, without a doubt. Even an OC 4850 is on par with a 4870. The whole 4000 series is an excellent offering from ATI, the likes of which we haven't seen since the 1900 series was released.
