In the latest picture leaked of AMD's upcoming flagship graphics card, codenamed "Fiji-XT," we get a final confirmation of the reference-design card's length, particularly its short PCB. Since this card uses a factory-fitted AIO liquid cooling solution, and since the Fiji XT package is effectively smaller than that of Hawaii, with the surrounding memory chips gone (moved to the GPU package as HBM stacks), the PCB is extremely compact, with just the GPU package, and its VRM. Speaking of which, the card draws power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors. The coolant tubes stick out from the rear of the card, making their way to a 120 x 120 mm radiator, with a single included 120 mm PWM fan. With this card, AMD is doing away with DVI altogether. Connectors will be a mixture of DisplayPort 1.2a and HDMI 2.0.

AMD teased this video on its Twitch channel.

No DVI? But, but... Why?

I've been waiting for a single card that can push 110 fps on Korean 1440p monitors, and now it's here - there is no DVI. Great. :(

You do know there is such things as HDMI to DVI or DisplayPort to DVI adapters right? Good bet that the card will come with one of those...

There could be DP-to-DVI adapters part of the package. But no connector on the card, though. They really wanted connectors for four displays, while retaining the full rear vent width on the second slot.

But the question then comes to mind, do they really save any money bundling an adapter with every card vs just providing it from the start? Sadly this is likely true.

Got so many adapters over the years for various things. Its just a waste.

FINALLY!

DIE LEGACY, DIE!

If you still need DVI, there are DP to dual-link DVI adapters available for around $60 by various companies, all based on the same silicon. They usually take a USB port for power, but otherwise work exactly as expected.

Its not so much as saving money but DVI isn't upwards compatible where HDMI and DP are downwards compatible. DVI is limited to resolution & bandwidth options the others can exceed.

2x8pin, yikes. I guess if it's the best of their best then it's to be expected.

It's a removable panel, take it off and spray it.
Fluorescent green would go well in an Nvidia system.

I like DVI too, only because I don't need a higher resolution and I like the fact the cables are secured by screws, so cables cant short a port out by moving.

Good placement for the tubes. It will allow the majority of ITX cases to close the side/top panel.

I want a 140mm rad actually as it fits better in my case, I wonder if some partners would make one.

The only reason cards still had DVI ports was because they were necessary for connecting VGA adaptors (you can't go direct from HDMI/DP to VGA with a passive adapter like you can with DVI-I, it requires an active converter), but since AMD ditched DVI-I ports on the R290 in favour of digital only DVI-D they became superfluous as you can go direct from HDMI/DP to DVI-D.

2x8-pin puts this around a maximum of 375w of potential draw. It better be a reeeeealllllyy fast card if it's going to even come close to the 980's potential 225w max.

I love me some AMD, but this concerns me.

well, supposedly the 390x is ~15% faster than the titan x, which pulls 275 watt. if the 290x had the same performance per watt, it would pull 317 watt, so actual will probably be 340-350. There is probably some overclocking headroom built in as well, given the watercooler.

Damn, I might even take the AiO version and stick it in my miniATX case and move the CPU radiator on the rear exhaust fan slot. I've redesigned it in the past so it fits up there. Tightly, but it does. Then it would be a fully water cooled rig :)
