VR is the same nonsense as 3D garbage with LCD TV's. Everyone raving about it and 2 years later, most vendors are entirely dropping it from the list of functions. VR, despite everyone defending it is exactly the same garbage. It's clumsy, cumbersome and despite impression it's more interactive, it's actually not. It's very inaccurate and has very limited control. Only thing that's better at is immersion since all you see is ingame content. Is that really worth 400€ ? Maybe. But you can achieve similar by playing in a dark room. It's not the same, but it's quite a lot cheaper.

I think if game developers do nothing more than take existing games such as first person shooters, add compatibility, and slap a VR label at the end of title.... then you are most definitely correct. (Mincraft VR anyone??? more like pukecraft... I didn't even keep it for the free trial) It takes planning the game ground up with VR in mind in order to make it actually work, and there are not a bunch of genres currently that can just be ported to a head set and work well. It will definitely take some creativity and new ideas from devs to make new genres that work. Seeing as most developers just want to go with the "safe bet" and make a new Madden game or something, I'd say probability is more in favor of your statement. However, I guess I am one of the few that want to see VR work well and succeed.

I've seen games designed specifically for VR and they felt like garbage. Sure, they have direct interactivity where you wave around with your hands. But ask yourself this, with mouse/keyboard you can play for hours. Would you wave with your hands up in the air for hours? Good luck. Not to mention the fact those handheld controllers just don't have enough controls for anything than most basic commands. You can forget System Shock or Deus Ex with VR swinging around. They kinda remind me of Aureal A3D VR tech demo where you walked across the yard and you could hear realistic sounding bees and fountain in virtual 3D space.

"This powerful PC is priced at just $499 USD MSRP when purchased with an Oculus Rift." .... "It even includes a keyboard, mouse, DVD drive, 1TB hard drive, and Windows® 10."

Found the link above so it appears the three companies are in some type of actual partnership. When I first read what btarunr wrote I though it was more CyperPower was going it alone. So yea, CyperPower is just moving the EoL CPU/mobo's and the RX 470. The system can deliver the Oculus system minimum VR requirement test when using the Oculus headset. But it appears to be relying on their "asynchronous spacewarp" software.

https://www.engadget.com/2016/10/06/you-don-t-need-a-ridiculous-pc-to-run-oculus-rift-anymore/
http://4world.tech/?p=156039

While the price for the box is not bad, it have a "hook" if it at least got a Wraith cooler, but one picture off the site shows what's probably the older OEM cooler, with what's a MicroATX 970 motherboard (I hope not 760), and what's probably some generic 1066Mhz DDR3. If the Case and PSU are above average, and you were thinking of building a low cost system and then purchasing the Oculus headset anyway (approx. $600)... it's still not the way I'd go unless they could bundle both for $1,000 and EVE Valkyrie included Free.

the quality of comments has degraded so much, unbelievable

if you're going to complain about a 1080 struggling in vr, then it's the dev's fault for putting so much gfx in the game! (& if the game doesnt even look that good, then they're uselessly being accurate or not faking properly, rasterized rendering is entirely about approximate shortcuts, timewarp is more important than literal 90 fps)

if ps4pro is going to do vr, then there will be some target visuals that should be able to run fine on the 470!

if phones are doing vr, why should pc have to have such a huge jump in requirements!?

that screenshot shows it's RIGHT ON THE EDGE of 'ready'! yet some of you act like it's all the way on the left!? wtf is wrong with you

there is more to vr than the super games, or games at all

it's like console people a few years ago complaining about needing a $3,000 computer, completely made up nonsense, not everything is crysis

I really don't get the hype for VR, there is a reason i play video games instead of doing these things in reality.

Common man, Radeon RX 470 for VR?? Are you nuts? This is 2016, not 1996 for 1280x480 resolution. You need aprox 90fps in 2160x1200 in order to have a "proper" VR experience.

Generally speaking fps is overrated IMO most people would find their games working pretty well if they would not knew how many fps they got , but as soon as they see the fps is going under 60fps they'll said that their games are not smooth enough but was fine just a few minutes before they see the fps...

As for VR its nothing more then an enhance 3D effect IMO If I want virtual reality world I virtually go outside...
Don't need VR to enjoy a games which is not suppose to be real anyways it is a games to pass the time after all

I think you may have gotten too used to your own computer which by no means is nothing bad.
There is a definite difference with some games when frames drop below certain fresh holds, this has nothing to do with actual monitor refresh rate either.

CSGO is a good one as anything below 160FPS i immediately notice the difference whilst my monitor is only 75hz.

Mouse is not as accurate, game looks and feels choppy.

The screenshot is with a MUCH more powerful processor. So we really don't know what the actual performance in VR of this machine is. There is a CPU bound counter in that benchmark for a very good reason. VR is very CPU dependent and the FX-4350 is just about the worst processor you can pick for gaming and VR.

The phone games that did VR were extremely crappy. The graphics were trash. People expect better on the PC, it's just a fact. If I wanted to play a bunch of pop-cap games in VR, sure I guess this computer would do. But that isn't what PC gamers want.

And it is true that VR can actually run on some mid-range hardware, and it can do that because most games dynamically adjust the visual quality to keep a target framerate. But this system is like they just put together the absolute bare minimum to run VR just so they could stick "VR Ready" on it, and in reality this likely isn't going to give a good VR experience.

This is AMD and short-term economics all over again. It's a dumb move.

They want to clean old stock which I fully understand.
They offer an underpowered CPU with an underpowered GPU and sell it as the 'VR' experience. There WILL be hapless buyers of this product. And they won't revisit AMD for anything related to VR ever again afterwards.

AMD gets to clear stock and lose future customers for short term profit. Short sighted, stupid move. They should not be selling this system with this kind of marketing. They should be selling it as the current gen console killer that offers everything a console doesn't at a very competitive price tag.

The baseline they chose for their marketing here is just way too high and it will dissappoint the buyer. Tremendously so. Why not drop in an RX480..... WTF

People complain about things being underpowered for VR and yet most of the VR games out are not even taxing. The minimal requirements for Oculus isn't the same as the Vive so the steam VR bench isn't even relevant. There is only the artificial requirement of the minimal spec. All the games run on the lowest systems that meet the minimal spec and they really don't offer much more if you exceed it to be honest.
There are a few that don't run well but those really aren't because the hardware isn't there, it's because the games are just terribly optimized.

You guys obviously have zero idea of how VR works. Essentially there are 2 screens (one per eye) of 1080x1200 resolution each. And ideally you want those rendered at 90FPS, or 45+FPS using reprojection/timewarp; anything under 45FPS gives dropped frames and is basically unplayable.

The end result is that you essentially have to render 2160x1200 pixels (25% more than 1920x1080) at more than 45FPS, all the time. The Fury X and RX 480 aren't capable of that most of the time, so the 470 certainly won't be.

Again, another thread with people complaining about VR< and nearly no one has a headset. :lovetpu:

I may not own a headset, but apparently unlike most posters in this thread I at least know how VR works, why FPS matters, and why the RX 470 is gonna give you a bad time.

that's what Linus was saying in this week's WAN show.

isnt that the usual case around here?.. its good that people have opinions, but i would prefer if they weren't so "i speak the only truth", most of the time, for things that they haven't experienced personaly and/or will never probably try.

Then again, you can always go back and play Descent 2/3 or Quake 1/2 in VR like I did back in the 90's with a 3dfx card, so a 470 shouldn't be a problem.
Edit:
Just found out they are releasing a new Descent game called Descent Underground. Cannot wait. :)

I said i don't understand the point of VR because i do everything to escape reality.

Does that mean i hate it? no.. it's a technology i love technology, but for me personally? no thanks.

Edit:
Just found out they are releasing a new Descent game called Descent Underground. Cannot wait. :)
Descent Underground is already out lol.
It's in my steam library atm xD

Is early access (means buggy and incomplete), and has no single player campaign... Thanks, but no thanks!
