It looks like a really really old antec case.
Chieftec used to make cases for Antec. Their famous Dragon series sold in EU by Chieftec branch, and in US as Antec SX830 (or Alienware, if you count pre-builts).
Donated my beige beast to my second workplace few years back. Still chugs along, currently housing a simple Haswell-based server for accounting.

True. It is kind of amazing how much control mainboards give over fan speed profiles.

Modern cases make my old Mountain Mods look like scrap metal.

A lot of cases do come with built in fan controllers at no extra cost mind you but you wont get the same kind of control and voltages only go from 7v-12v. No 5v option or sliders for you to control

Reminds me of the time cases uses to come with a powersupply. This case looks to be of that era minus the beige.

I had a beautiful metallic sort of a dark bronze colored SX830. The cooling was terrible by modern standards but the case had charm and it was very durable.

Do you like your mountain mods case? How thick is the aluminum for the most part? Their site only gives the thickness as a range of 1.65mm-3.25mm .

This kind of elitism is killing enthusiast fourms....

If it's not broke don't fix it.

Keep it simple stupid.

Not everyone plays games from steam UPlay or the many others. I have several CD based games I play daily because I can.

You should image the iso's so you can archive the discs... you know cd's scratch? Then ya mount the iso as you need. It's helluvalot faster that way too.

Wow, 34 comments as of my posting. This case must really rub people the right/wrong way. To me it looks okay, very retro, I wish the USB ports were the 'clean' ones as on some cases. The logo should be towards the bottom. Wish it was more like the Silverstone CS330.

Whew... a case and not a power supply. :p

Back in the day they hade some very solid PSUs, some where even Delta made iirc.

15 years ago most cases only came in beige :p :toast:

Naah, that was 20 years ago.

And honestly I prefer this kind of case over modern stuff with RGB and useless windows and only room for like two drives. This thing is way more flexible. If I were in the market for a new case I'd take something like this any day of the week over most other cases. Depending a bit on the cost of course. How much is it?

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
Unlike the vast majority of permanently crippled front-bay-less "greenhouse" cases which also lack USB-C, the difference here being the presence of drive bays = for the sake of $10 you can add your own front bay extender which adds 1 or 2x USB C ports, maybe even 2x fast charge A ports wired direct to the PSU. It's amazing the number of people who forget that front bays are about a lot more than just optical drives.
Given that so many cases have no optical bay any more (and I like that change, it means you can now get shorter cases with much better front intake airflow) - I'd love to see a generic standard 'bay' for front panel ports.

It would ideally be something standardised by the USB-IF, Intel, or AMD to be a generic rectangular cutout big enough for half a dozen <insert current connectivity standard> ports. Yeah, we can make old cases work fine by routing the new-fangled ports to expansion slots at the back, but that's not as convenient.

We need 3.5" bay fascias at the front of a PC without the bulk of the legacy drive cages behind them - just so that we don't have to throw out a perfectly good case once all its front panel ports are obsolete.

Ooof, I can't imagine the ones that aren't this world-wide renowned. Awfully high bar.
Back in the early 2000s it used to be a quality brand. Cases and psu's made by them were highly recommended.

You laugh all you want, but having more expansion bays never hurt. I can live without Type-C for another 5 or so years(maybe more), since there isn't a single device on a market that can't do the same thing over type-A plug, and regular A-to-C cables cost less than half of an equivalent C-to-C cable. I have type-C on my motherboard, I had type-C on my laptop and on my DeskMini, but for as long as it existed, I've never-ever used it.
And while you enjoy your airflow-blocking RGB-blinging acrylic faceplates, I will stick couple of laptop drives into my 3.5" dual-drive caddy, watch a few episodes of Doom Patrol, stick a 3.5" drive into a 5.25" caddy to recover some photos, take a lunch break, and ultimately get paid for my services, all for pushing a few buttons on my "outdated" chassis. Also, I didn't hear that there's a worldwide ban on internal card readers, USB hubs or expansion brackets (all of which for me is a must, 'cause who knows what kind of weird stuff I'll get in my workshop tomorrow).

Please tell me, how many Type-C devices do you have, and whether any of them came with Type-A to Type-C cable?

I agree. This is NOT the 2006 style of case first of all. The case has the modern air flow pattern. 2 front, 2 top, 1 back, and 1 bottom. This also will be quieter than having side ports for extra fans, which I can easily case mod that. I can have a lot of fun with this case and can recommend it to my clients, depending on the price of course, which should not be unreasonable. Also I have not heard of any ban on card readers and googled to see if there was one as such.

In Ending I like this case and will keep that in mind when it comes out.

Well what do you know. A case that might just be usable.

The case market was getting to the point it looked like you might as
well just call it an Atari and not a PC. With this, at least in the custom
market, you have this thing called flexibility. All Y'all will begin to
appreciate that word "flexibility" real soon I suspect.

I'd criticize the PSU on the bottom ( dust collector ) and the top
and bottom vents ( which planet do these guys come from that
doesn't have dust? ) but otherwise not bad.

This. The only time I needed an USB-C connector was when I had my previous phone (Pixel), I just used the rear connector on my B450 board which I had.

Zalman and few others used to make those. Always wanted to have the cupholder+car lighter bay, but instead settled on 5.25" storage drawer, which I used for random assortment of screws, paperclips, SD cards and flashdrives.

This looks a lot like my trusty Chieftec BX I bought in 2005 or so. Built like a truck, served me well till a couple of years ago. I only replaced it because I moved and it didn't really fit in the new location, but I'm still sorry I had to do so.
Fwiw, this one looks almost the same as my BX (drive bays galore ftw!), only with the PSU at the bottom, filters on top and bottom and support for liquid cooling. The only thing that broke in that BX were the plastic HDD slides and the new ones seem to be different, but still plastic.

For over 25 years CHIEFTEC has been a worldwide renowned brand

Really ???

I've been using/building computers since the late 70's and have never, ever heard of them....

And if this one is their idea of a "world-renowned, modern, timeless design case, then perhaps they would be interested in buyin some of my beachfront property in Witchita, hehehehe......
