It feels like just yesterday it was AMD who drove prices down. Nothing like a little competition.

While I understand, I disagree. I don't think this is mainly due to Intel...I think it's more of the impending releases coming from Amd. At the end of the day though we all win. Can't wait for raptor lake vs zen 4.

Zen4 is too far away to be triggering price cuts now. Plus, that would trigger price cuts virtually across the board.

Not everyone builds computers to they can be upgraded every 2 years. A 5950x build should last a decade at this rate.

When people want to upgrade without having to throw out the entire computer, they have the option to upgrade to this outstanding chip. That's all I was saying. Two years. Three years. Whenever they want.

They've been in the red for years. Let them make an honest buck when they can if you want to see the around in the future.

Yeah, God forbid they inflate prices once for a generation with staggering performance increases, especially since they've been indebted for so long. But nobody cared when Intel made you pay more than double every year for 5% performance improvements, and that's being optimistic.

I did, and I switched to AMD (Zen2 and Zen3), but their greed didn't pay off.
Now Intel simply is more convenient, and Zen4 is quite late. That's why I switched back to Intel.

AMD should have cut prices 4/5 months ago, just before Alder Lake release, and should have released Zen4 in may/june.
That would have been a good strategy to keep their pace.

There's other zen 3 processors to be released and following history(amds), then it's right on cue.
