EVGA on Thursday announced that it has fresh stocks of its GeForce RTX 30-series "Ampere" graphics cards for direct sales through its website. The best part? Most popular SKUs are in stock, and at prices one could consider "sane," given the scourge of scalping. As of this writing, we see stocks of the company's custom-design RTX 3090 Ti priced as low as USD $1,999, the RTX 3090 as low as $1,699, the RTX 3080 Ti as low as $1,299, the RTX 3080 12 GB as low as $1,199, and the original RTX 3080 well under the $1,000-mark. Those interested can check out the EVGA website. Be sure not to trip its bot-protection using shopping tools.

Ampere already launched overpriced with very poor price performance (unless compared to the awful Turing). Sane prices would be something like the 3080ti selling for the same price as the 3080.

Erm closer to a RX 6900XT and 3090Ti being around $450

This is what happens when Nvidia uses up all of its "pricing power" as wallstreet loves to call it.

What, now the crypro doesn't have the money to pay extortion prices we gamers are expected to jump on a MSRP + 50%, just a couple of months before the next generation? And that's supposedly an article worthy development?

This is all looking exactly like Turing launch. Let me guess, 50% performance increase for 50% MSRP increase, and there will be tons of people saying we should just accept it, or find another hobby?

3080 Ti for $700. That would be OK.

nvidia webpage says "restocked and reloaded" and "should now be available".
A huge slam on their own faces. Yeah, mining cards have been renewed and for sale. They have always claimed that silicon shortage or demand more than supply or whatever the f***.
Every one knows. Why don't nv just admit it? I mean nv are famous for being disgusting.
No more talk. "So, nvidia, **** ***."

The problem is, even MSRP are insane now. RTX 3080 launced at 699$, remember? And now MSRP for RTX 3080 12 GB is 1250$, and "sane price" is just 20% above MSRP - but that is still twice the original price. And calling it "sane"?

What did you expect? These are elite businesses, no different than what the coal, steel, and oil industries did to make their multi-billion dollar empires. They're going to work every and any angle to make more money. That's how they think.
Look at what they do with gas. They use just about any crisis that they can possibly connect to their industry(no matter how ridiculous) to inflate gas prices like 200%, so that they can later on lower it down to 150%, which basically allows them to get away with boosting prices by 25-50% for no apparent reason other than that they just want more money for themselves & their cronies. That's what it all boils down to.
This is the nature of the beast, and the tech field is no exception to it. :shadedshu:

Yeah... I know. But I'm a consumer and I just state my point as a consumer. I hate them for being "so clever" in business and that's it. nv is well-known for their despicable moves. If I were a stock holder of nv, more likely I wouldn't complain.

I wouldn't consider it being clever and would just call it like it is: scumbaggery. They could care less about the people they have working for them and only about the money.

No thanks, especially when in EU you have to go through customs and pay the VAT on top of the price listed online because your cards arrives from Taiwan.

How do people over in Europe manage to buy this stuff with the insane VAT taxes? I just don't understand why businesses can't set up shop over there and make the product there as well. Then there wouldn't be VAT taxes on this stuff and they would be providing jobs there for the Europeans. :wtf:

3080 at end of generation still $300 above MSRP is sane?

I guess this isnt as bad as the record low prices title though.

Bwahaha

Hey EVGA, the MSRP for a 3080 was 719 EUR if I recall and this gen is nearly finito.
You're about 30% discount short here to call things sane, and even then you're pushing it.

Also, this is not just an overpriced gen but an early adopter's one too, with sub-optimal node and TDP.

Got it? K Thx bai

Yeah its pretty amazing how the articles here parrot marketing lately.

Not good.

'Tons of people' are just sitting on their money, that's long and short of it. We've seen this before. I remember a laptop market that was dying for sales but then oopsie tablets and smartphones took all those sales because laptops didn't innovate, were generally shit at most price points and the top end was too expensive. After that dip in the market laptops started becoming more 'focused' at market segments, we now have models for students and many other target markets. And now they do sell on top of whatever tablets/smartphones are in the house - there is something at a suitable price point for every segment and its not super shitty like those plastic old Acers from back when.

GPUs are in the same boat now since Turing, and the bar for acceptance has moved way out of range with Ampere. The market will correct. It already is, except these articles are trying to mislead gullible idiots to think 'now's the time'. All you really need, is patience. More, patience. Normalization is happening as inflation grows and people run out of their lockdown savings.
