It have with the availability. The cards could be at msrp + VAT, but the situation is the same as 1 year ago. They had back then sometimes availability, I joined in the queue just to see when the cards will be available. Тhey notified me 8-12 months later and the price was +50%

The fact that the MSRP is the scalper price doesn't make this a very easy pill to swallow.

The 3080, 3070, 3060Ti, and 3060 are all still far above their MSRP, often approaching double their MSRP. Pricing is getting slowly better, but we're not out of the woods yet, not even close; We're perhaps in a small clearing but still very much surrounded by danger, to double down on that idiom.

US prices also don't include any taxes that are collected depending on each state (which granted are generally a lot smaller than our VATs). Having to pay VAT from something shipped from Taiwan is not any different than VAT on a local shop if your country customs don't suck and slap you with extra import duties.

Still pretty high prices though, 430 for a 3060 or 310 for a 3050 (23% vat) seem very high to me

More like we're in a burning forest and we may have found a lookout tower to spend the night in lol, so now we can sit down and realize how screwed up this whole generation and the last has been. Meanwhile, forest still burning and the Lovelace firetruck is too busy with the nearest datacenter for the next 5-6 months. I guess the highlight here is that burnt surfaces are pretty fertile soil.

I signed up on the EVGA queue for a 3060Ti 9 months ago. I think it was that far back, maybe 6 months ago. Got an email last week and this week I'm finally using my $479 MSRP 3060Ti. I play at 1080p, so it is plenty and a great upgrade from my Vega64.

I was going to skip it since the 3070 was supposed to sell for $499 and that was my original card of choice. At $499 the 3070 was a good deal! When I checked pricing, I noticed retailers still were asking over $700 for a 3060Ti, so I grabbed one. I'm just sick of waiting for real MSRP pricing and EVGA always charges a premium for their cards. Having dealt with them for my brother in the past, their warranty service is outstanding too. So I guess it's worth the extra $80!

The problem is, even MSRP are insane now. RTX 3080 launced at 699$, remember? And now MSRP for RTX 3080 12 GB is 1250$, and "sane price" is just 20% above MSRP - but that is still twice the original price. And calling it "sane"?

This is what's called pricing power. Nvidia have it and the problem for us is that they know it will sell. Pure pricing power in action. They will price it knowing what the market will bear. The extremes of capitalism kind of suck. The best thing we all can do is stop giving them our money.

It's always at other retailers the price is dropped like micro center/....

I've bought a quite a few evga gpu's and psu's and none from evga directly.

Vendors are desperate to sell remaining stock of current architecture, as they prepare for new gen Lovelave and RDNA3. No one should fall for this marketing stunt, considering just how much better new gen GPUs are going to be. If you really need GPUs now, just wait until prices go below MSRP. This will happen soon, the same as in CPU space. Just look how much mamy SKUs of Alder Lake and Zen 3 have fallen below MSRP.

I always thought EVGA had better pricing than any other AIB, at least here in the States, while prices were jacked.

Take the 3060Ti for example, they were selling for around $550 (not the $399 MSRP), but all other AIB were $50-200 higher.
The same thing went for all other models, EVGA was generally less expensive all around.

Look at the 3080 12GB, this card never launched with a MSRP and companies just kind of priced them between $1250-1500 at the time. EVGA was at the bottom of the pricing scale and other AIB were higher. The card certainly isn't worth $1200+ and it's still not worth the $999 price EVGA has the FTW listed for, but at least prices are dropping.

I don't think folks in the States should be shitting all over EVGA, they should be happy EVGA kept lower prices (even though they were above MSRP) than other AIBs. Folks should be pissed other AIB took an extreme advantage for having higher pricing. Don't get me wrong, pricing overall still sucks and it would be nice to see cards at (or at least flirting with) their original MSRP levels.

Stock at retailers seems to be really piling up lately, hopefully the AIBs say screw it soon and just drop the prices to where they really should be.
