I. What information do we collect?
We collect the following information from you or about you:
Information provided by you. When an online visitor submits information to Blizzard, it usually takes the form of: (1) the purchase of goods or services through our online stores, (2) product or account registration or registration to participate in an online game, (3) player duel services, (4) message boards or forums, (5) eCards or "Refer a Friend" emails, (6) warranty registrations, (7) contest registrations, (8) consumer complaints, (9) surveys, (10) customer service or technical support, (11) the "Share Wish List" feature, and/or (12) newsletters. The personal information collected may include your name, home address, telephone number and/or email address. We do not require this information to access our websites, however, you will not be able to use certain products, services or features that require registration or receive materials such as newsletters if this information is not provided.
Information we receive or generate from your use of our games or services. We collect information relating to: Your games and activities in games, the services you use and the manner in which you use them, and your devices and activities when installing or accessing our services.
Information from External Sources. We may receive information about you and your activities from third parties when you connect their account to external accounts (e.g., Facebook, PlayStation, Xbox, or Twitch), as well as from advertisers or service providers regarding your experiences or interactions with them. In addition, we may receive information from public websites on the Internet, including but not limited to Twitch, Instagram, and YouTube. For example, when you log in to a website or app through Facebook Connect, you may be asked if you want to share information from your Facebook account with us. If you use a game or other feature that posts your score on social media, or if you use a "Like" or "Share" button on our websites or apps, the relevant third party may share information with us.
We treat all information about you and your account as personal data. Blizzard collects the following categories of data depending on which products or services you are interested in or interact with. We typically retain information only as long as necessary to provide you with products, services, and an immersive entertainment experience. Exceptions are listed below.
Data Category Description
PERSONAL IDENTIFICATORS Any information that identifies, describes, relates to, or can be associated with an individual or household. Most of this data is provided and generated when a player creates his or her account, and is available to him or her in the Account Settings section, where it can be updated. In addition, we collect information from players to track the careers and performance of our competitors.
Examples: Account name, BattleTag, name, email address, phone numbers, home address, social networking pseudonyms, guardian details, open fields such as chat records.
PROTECTED GROUPS A group of individuals with a common characteristic who are protected from discrimination based on that characteristic. We usually collect information from players who participate in our Esports events in order to provide personalized support and assistance during competitions. Age/date of birth is collected for parental supervision and gender is only requested for the provision of merchandise.
Examples: Age/date of birth, country of origin, gender.
TRANSACTION/ PURCHASE INFORMATION Information about products or services purchased or received and transaction histories. We collect transaction details related to the licensing and purchase of our products and services and related to contests and competitions we sponsor. Transaction data may be retained for up to 7 years (primarily for audit purposes).
Examples: Order details/progression, subscriptions, refunds, payments, shipping details, gifts.
TRANSACTION/ PURCHASE INFORMATION Information about products or services purchased or received and transaction histories. We collect transaction details related to the licensing and purchase of our products and services, and related to contests and competitions we sponsor. Transaction data may be retained for up to 7 years (primarily for audit purposes).
Examples: Order details/progression, subscriptions, refunds, payments, shipping details, gifts.
ACTIVITY DATA Information about Internet activity or activity on other electronic networks and information regarding a consumer's interaction with websites, applications or advertisements on the Internet. When a player interacts with our Services, we collect server logs. Server logs are retained for between 90 days and 1 year, unless they are related to escalation of customer concerns. In that case, we keep them for up to 3 years.
Examples: Region, activity log, cookies, operating systems and versions, license details, login details, forum content, wish list.
GEOLOCALIZATION DATA Geographic location of a person or device by means of digital information processed over the Internet. We use this type of data solely to evaluate the performance of our services.
Examples: Geolocation based on IP address, IP address.
CUSTOMER SERVICE Information collected or generated in the course of assisting players through our customer service to investigate and address player concerns and to monitor and improve our services. Information collected or generated in the course of supporting our players will be retained for up to 3 years to ensure that we address concerns and issues in the best possible manner. If a photo ID is provided to us, it will be deleted as soon as the ID verification is completed (usually within 3 days). Information related to account restrictions and penalties is retained without restriction to protect our customers and our business.

LEGAL DOCUMENTS Legal Records. We retain records to support existing or anticipated legal matters for up to 7 years.

TOURNAMENT/MATCH DATA Information related to rankings, performance statistics, and team details to track our competitors' careers and achievements, licenses and memberships, and tournament details.
Examples: Match details, team profile, performance statistics, tournament details.
GAME DATA Records of game licenses, progress, histories, statistics, in-game purchases, and interactions with other players. Game data is generated while a player is playing our games.
Examples: Purchased items, unlocks, socials, progress.
EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION Details about a person's current employment. This type of information is mainly collected from Esports players to better manage our tournaments.
Examples: Company name, occupation.
II. for what purpose do we process your data?
Blizzard collects and uses your personal data for its core business and operational activities in order to provide you with the highest quality services and experiences.
a) Conduct the primary areas or activities on which Blizzard was founded and on which its operations are focused
Gameplay Experience. Creating the polished and engaging entertainment experiences found in our epic games! This includes: Progress and progression, in-game social networks, unlocks, and purchased items.

Player account, parental release and security. Players of most of our games use a Battle.net account for their assets, to communicate with friends, and to learn more about our games and services. Parents of our younger players can set up parental release to monitor and control their children's gaming activities. This includes: Player account, parental release management.

Global Customer Support. We provide personalized support in investigating and dealing with any difficulties you may encounter with our games, your account, or your purchases. This includes:customer service, troubleshooting customer issues, forum moderation, chat setup.

Finance and Accounting. We use some information to manage our company resources. This includes: Cost analysis of the payment gateway, preparation of income and sales tax, transfer of unclaimed assets.

Most of this data counts as activity or game data.

For example, Blizzard processes and stores information at Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. in the U.S. and may store or process information at Blizzard Entertainment SAS in France and may share information with its parent company, Activision Blizzard, Inc.

Blizzard may disclose any of your information if we believe it is required by applicable law, regulation, operating agreement, legal process or governmental request. This includes disclosing your information to law enforcement, government agencies or other third parties as necessary to enforce our Terms of Use, user agreements or other policies that protect Blizzard's rights or property or the rights or property of others, or in the event of a lawsuit or dispute related to your use of our Services.
IV. What are tracking technologies and how are they used?
Blizzard and its partners, such as marketing partners, may use tracking technologies such as cookies, beacons, tags, and scripts. These technologies are used to analyze trends, administer the Sites, track user navigation on the Sites, and collect demographic information from our users as a whole. We may receive individual as well as aggregate reports based on these companies' use of these technologies.
We use cookies for a variety of purposes, such as our shopping cart, maintaining user preferences (e.g., language preference), and authentication. Users can control the use of cookies at the browser level. If you decline cookies, you may continue to use our websites, but in that case your ability to use some of the features or areas of our websites may be limited.
In addition, we may use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails that tell us which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to evaluate the effectiveness of certain communications as well as the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. For this reason, these types of clear gifs are tied to personally identifiable information.
We and the third parties we work with as part of providing certain features on our websites or displaying advertisements based on your web activity use local shared objects, such as Flash cookies, and local storage, such as HTML5, to store content information and settings. Different browsers may provide their own management tools for removing HTML5.
V. Automated decision making/profiling
An automated decision is a decision made solely by automated means and without human involvement in the decision-making process based on the processing of Personal Data. Blizzard does not have a decision-making process with respect to individuals without human involvement.
VI. what level of security is applied to your personal data?
To protect the information and personal data that you provide to us and that we learn about you, we use physical, technical, and administrative safeguards. We continually update and test our security technology. We restrict access to your personal information to our employees. In addition, we train our employees on the importance of confidentiality and maintaining the privacy and security of your information.
VII. Right of Access
In response to your assertion of your "right of access" to understand how and why we use your information, we will provide you with a copy of your personal information that Blizzard holds at the time of your request. Although we will provide you with all personally identifiable information to the extent technically possible, we reserve the right not to disclose any information that we use for security, system and network integrity purposes (prevention of hacking, cheating, etc.) or for enforcement purposes to protect the safety, rights or property of our users and Blizzard Entertainment.
