Hogwarts Legacy Gets Performance and Visual Improvements With the Latest Patch

Avalanche Software has released quite a big patch for Hogwarts Legacy, improving visual, performance, gameplay, and general stability. In addition to more than 500 bug fixes, it also brings the new Arachnophobia Mode.

Performance-wise, the newest patch resolves general crashes on the PC and various memory leaks, brings plenty of optimizations, fixes ray tracing issues, and more. It also updates minimum driver recommendation for NVIDIA graphics cards, updates NVIDIA DLSS to v3.1.2, AMD FSR to v2.2, and Intel XeSS to v1.1.

Overview

Arachnophobia Mode
An Arachnophobia Mode has been added to the accessibility options. When toggled
on, this mode:
  • Changes all enemy spider appearances
  • Reduces and removes spider skitters and screeches
  • Removes small spider ground effect spawners
  • Makes static spider corpses in the world invisible
  • Collision is still active to prevent players from getting stuck when
  • toggling this setting
Note that spider images in the Field Guide remain unchanged

Professor Ronen Themed Cosmetic Gear
  • Added support for the new Professor Ronen Cosmetic Set Twitch Drops

I don't buy/play anything until at least a full year has passed or until they stop doing bugfix patches with hundreds of changes(look at cybertrash 2077, they still release laundry-list bugfixes more than a year on, or pathfinder WOTR again a year on and they still release hundred-of-bugs patches) the added bonus is that it's also heavily discounted by then (i also don't buy games until they're at least >50% off launch price)

Common sense is in the way, as it is more often when I read your suggestions, sorry to say.

Did you think this through? How and what standards should Steam use? And why would Steam be judge jury and executioner in the first place? If you ask for curation... that's what reviews are for and the rest is customer due diligence, so really, there already is a judge & jury, and the executioner in the end should be the customer.

Don't pass the blame to content creators. This is all you, me and everyone else buying AAA pieces of shit. We're all guilty, let's face it. Every click and every shop page we visit is part of this reality. We are our own problem and until we realize that, this won't end.

The underlying issue here is consumerism. We want it all, we want it now, and we want to be teased into the next purchase. We don't say NO to it, so we say yes. People still pre order games. People buy Early Access. This is all consumer behaviour.

Alternatively, you could vote with your wallet. Its the only way, and those numbers don't lie, contrary to the sentiment you read online.

In this industry, the publishers win. They make bucko bucks for pushing trash. Steam wins too. They get a 30% cut of that success. The developers? One could argue they lose, but for a group that is treated so terribly there seems to be 0 shortage of them. So I guess they're OK with it.

The consumer? Nah. They keep bankrolling this garbage. The consoomer has spoken loud and clear: CONSUME PRODUCT THEN GET EXCITED FOR NEXT PRODUCT!

Same. The only games I buy at full price are good games that get a GoG release. Never paid more then $20 for a steam game. Except deep rock galactic.

It's becoming a sad standard these days, that newly released games needs one or more patches to fix things, that should have been fixed before ever released.

Shure there can be a bug or two that has not been able to see before releasing. But this patch alone has 500, I repeate 500 bug fixes.

The last of us has gotten 6 or 7 patches by now and so many other games released with bugs and optimization issues.

I don't know if it's pure lazyness or is it really to hard to fix the issues before releasing?

One thing is sure, releases like these are reason for why some people drops pc gaming and moves to console.

Game developers, stop this lazy greedy money grab bug feelt releases. It ruins pc gaming and just piss of people.

Some will say its laziness. Some incompetence. Some will say its diversity hires. Others wills cream from the rooftops that its the publishers.

Me? I think its all of the above, enabled by decades on cheap debt and consooomer culture.
One thing is sure, releases like these are reason for why some people drops pc gaming and moves to console.
Anyone who does this has a room temp IQ and deserves to be bullied. The console versions have JUST AS MANY bugs, and dont have the benefit of being able to power through with superior hardware. Then you get mroe expensive games, subscription services, and limited backwards compatibility. YAY!

Sadly GOG does not have regional pricing (it's a really big thing for us in shithole ruined countries) and even "cheap" gog prices end up extremely expensive even near or more than steam day one full price.
If GOG added regional pricing i'd be all over that as i also despise the intruderware shit DRM that come with lots of games published in steam.

I think FSR is trained on the specific game, so I guess what I'm about to suggest isn't as good, but I believe Radeon Super Resolution is FSR but applied outside the game settings.

Something like the "Nintendo seal of quality" that saved the video game market after the crash? While Nintendo proper (besides game freaks) make sure that the games are polished on release...the seal get stamped on games that don't run well. Pokemon crimson and violet are the living proof that after 30 years, the seal lost its value. Broken games are still selling...once they start to actually bleed money they might change, but at the moment it seems that they don't mind hurting their reputation if there's any amount of money to be made.

You have never read patch notes and now that they appear in a news article for a game you dont even necessarily play, you do? Or do you mean the sheer number is worth posting as a statement?

Ive seen lists like this many many times. Take your average WoW patch notes and compare... The thing that makes this one unique is mostly the severity of several of these bugs.

You said "Steam should have higher standards" So you were saying it's Steams fault for it being a mess. When all Steam is a host for the game they have no control of what is released and how it is released.
The only thing they have control over, are which adult games they allow.

You have never read patch notes and now that they appear in a news article for a game you dont even necessarily play, you do? Or do you mean the sheer number is worth posting as a statement?

Ive seen lists like this many many times. Take your average WoW patch notes and compare... The thing that makes this one unique is mostly the severity of several of these bugs.
The latter, obviously (or so I thought).
