You'd think that buying a $1000 phone would get you enough storage in the first place, right?
At least there's a MicroSD slot for you add an additional 1TB for $75, right?

The market is stupid.

That's why I don't buy £1000 phones. A £250 one does exactly the same things, except for maybe gaming, which is crap on a touchscreen anyway.

I dropped Samsung Galaxy like a Bad habit for Motorolla Moto G Power, got tired of their phones starting to fail within 3 years, the moto g is still going well. If i want to game on travel i will get a switch, steamdeck or 1 of those units by zotac, asus etc, since the "gaming laptops" are nothing but just a notebook which overheats

Lol at everyone's random rants about phone related things in general, unrelated to the brand in question. Well exept auswolf, who attacked the title instead.

Yes, explain to me that if the phones had enough memory or a memory card slot to begin with we wouldn't need these kind of products.

Is this the best cable solution they could come up with? Does it really have to protrude more than a 1 cm or so?

I've had gaming-capable smartphones since the Galaxy S (1) and to this date I have never really found a single game worth playing on either the Apple store or Play store. Maybe it's the vague gyro-based controls or the imprecision of a touchscreen but every genre except puzzle-based single-tap games is horrible. If PCMR mocks "console peasants", what are smartphone gamers? By comparison to a phone, a gamepad to control a game running at 30fps with a mere 50ms of input lag seems like the pinnacle of razor-sharp precision.

Oh, also - I looked up US pricing. An iPhone 15 non-Pro, non-plus, with 512GB of storage and the basic apple care is $1329.
HOLY GODDAMN SMOKES.

Still rocking a Pixel 3a here, have an 8a on order and I'm slightly annoyed that the 8a is too good and too expensive for what I need in a phone, but Google don't make an 8b

The pro and Max have full speed, they only gimped the 15 with outdated early 2000s technology....

How much would that even cost? Surely it's not that expensive to get USB 3?
(PS why do these iphones only have 8gb of ram tops, literally every other phone can have like 16 now)

Pro Models have 10Gbps USB port while "cheaper" non Pro have 480Mbps USB port.

MicroSD card that has questionable quality and durability vs a SSD with much better components(Granted I am not in support of removal of memory card slots). For video shooters using external SSDs over microSD cards that generally share SIM slot is always much better.

Don't forget write speeds. Not all MicroSD cards are made the same. Some are good, most are garbage.

Strange enough I never had a problem with Micro sd failing and SSDs face the same problems, some good, some bad.

I suspect this device will fade into obscurity being that it is for CRApple

I read an article a while ago that they dug up a sunken camera from the bottom of the sea once, and while the camera got destroyed by the pressure and corrosion, the microSD in it was in fully working condition, only the contract pins had to be cleaned.

There are multiple such cases of memory cards recovered from bottom of waterbody still working well.

Idiots :D

Make solution to problems that should not be in the first place.

To be fair... how much shit videos we make with phones these days, none? All those tik tok wh0res okay, poor mans onlyfans?

For those places 1080p30 is still more than enough... getting that away to any cloud or local wifi enabled storage is zero problems.

SDCARD is a way to go, for sure. But also... i don't have anything worthy in my phone that canmot be erased if it is it is backuped on NAS, you should not ever carry worthy data in your phone, it gets stolen, lost, destroyed... it is stupid to do so. Removable storage has the same flaw. You don't have a backup unless you have backup of your backup.

Anyway yeah that's the only downside with my Pixel 8a. Tidal is up to like 50GB now...

It's not about that, it's about a phone as a media player. I have a 3GB/month data plan and erratic listening behaviours. Generally I have access to wifi but I'm also outside a lot and so I download a lot of music, and lately podcasts.

Compressed audio does not take that much space... with few 100GB you can months of listening time.
