Unreal Engine is a curse upon gaming. Hope someone makes a better engine soon. Even the old CryEngine still looks okay today and runs 10 times better.

Every game that uses Unreal Engine runs like crap and demands huge system hardware. Basically everyone needed to upgrade just because of this crap engine.
This guy gets it. Horrid game engine.

Context is not your strong suit is it? Maybe a bit of reading might help..
Seen enough reviews, and the game's overall state with bugs were a constant part of every single one.
That is my context, and the high number of fixes fits the early access narrative.

I didn't have any main mission bugs that stopped progression, but there were bugs that caused unexpected/unwanted behaviors - regardless, you could still progress the main mission even with those bugs. I had a few side missions that couldn't be completed, so I just brushed them off and kept playing.

Certainly lots of graphical bugs - bodies floating, bodies not population and just floating heads, lots of pop ins, anomaly animations not showing up on screen until after you step on them or throw a bolt into them and so on. Nothing game breaking, but some were certainly more annoying than others.

I'm curious if they finally fixed NPC weapons dropping into your inventory when they're trying to spawn into the world....I think I found that one to be the most irritating, not only because it put in extra weight that could encumber you, but half the time one of those weapons was put in your equipped weapon spot. Then you end up swapping guns to realize that a) your weapon is unloaded and/or b) that the weapon is not the right weapon and you may not have ammo for it. Now you're left scrambling to drop/swap/reload in crucial moments.

As someone who owns it and has played it, I can tell you that the glitches are purely graphical and I didn't even notice them until I read an article. You have to really be looking for them. In the hustle & bustle of normal game play, you're not going to see any of them.

Game still need a lot of patches. Even today they released v1.2.1 patch.

Devs finally added features as NPC stalkers can heal each other and finally loot dead stalkers after fight.

Still enemy might spawn behind you (monolith, bandits, mercs, bloodsucker\s). I saved in front of one door and after i opened it - there was squad of monolith (4 or 5) which was total surprise for me and i lost. Loaded game and after i opened door again - no one. Few meters walk - two bloodsuckers.

In general game is beautiful. Decent graphics. But amount of small\tiny glitches and bugs just crazy. And open world don't make it easy and fast to fix.

Glitches, yes, bugs, no.

A glitch is a situation in a game or program where something happens that is not intended by the programmers but are harmless and do not interfere with the operation of the game/program.

A bug is a situation where something happens that not only is unintended, but is also detrimental to the operation to the game/program. They can range in seriousness from harmless, such as rendering a feature non-functional, to serious where the program code crashing completely.

These patches are fixing glitches. Yes, there are a lot of them. It's a huge game. However, there are no game breaking bugs currently known.

So can we ease up with the silly brow beating? We're talking about minor problems that don't break the game. We're not talk about the game break mess that GTAV started out as. And TakeTwo/RockStar STILL hasn't fixed all of them, 12 YEARS later.

This Unreal Engine 5 version used by the game is absolute garbage to the gaming industry.
No it isn't. It's actually a very GOOD thing.

Can you please stop talking out of your behind?

'Fixed over 100 EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION crashes and other errors, including memory leaks.'
'Fixed an issue where relationships with NPC's didn't change'
'Fixed an issue where the player was teleported out of the playable area'
'Fixed an issue where the NPC could teleport out of the playable area'

These are not graphical glitches at all.

Where is this from? Link.

To be fair, hadn't seen that. I don't use Steam. The GOG page doesn't show that info. However, most people are not seeing those problems. Most are seeing the graphical glitches and little else.

You do realize that you can click the link that says "Major Patch 1.2" in the first post of this topic, don't you? In fact, it is the second word on the first post, you can't really miss it unless you didn't read everything. The link takes you to the STALKER 2 webpage and it lists all of the fixes right there, no need to utilize steam for any patch notes.

I don't get games on Steam so any big updates I get for games I play I see if GoG links the patch updates, if not, I just search online quick and check things out there.

Waded throught the shit that is steam forums so others don't have.
Performance and whatnot is fine (it's UE, runs same as every other UE game) but AI (how loaded NPCs behave) and A-Life (how unloaded NPCs are kept persistent and respawned when/where appropriate) is still bad.

Those were the main draws of the previous games for me, so I can wait.
Very true. I played Call of Pripyat, and the A.I. system on that one felt more alive. Random NPCs killing each other from afar, with their bodies persistent throughout. But I also had to keep in mind how smaller the maps were back then, and every region was segmented, hence it was more easier to manage I think. I won't keep my hopes up that A-Life will return anytime soon on an engine that they have not built in house.

1st problem : unreal engine => bad optimisation even if it was tweak by devs
so you need a mod to optimise of course; because 40-60 fps at all mid with a 3070 is meh => with mod it"s stable 70-80

- bugs on some quest it can be annoying
- corrupted save files : yep i really don't know how they do

still dlc in devellopement : 2 zones

it misses may things for olders stalkers : nvg, reputation system, etc....

if you donwload via xbox, you can't use some mods because it doesnt work (gg microsoft :kookoo:)

Its right here in the TPU article itself. Goes to show the power of tunnel vision... ;)

I've played Stalker 2 for a while and I was also missing several mechanical things I'd expect there to be, and were also talked about. A lot of the interactivity in the open world feels off, missing, or just simply not implemented properly. I'm going to wait until this game fleshes that out, which it will, most likely, because its a large part of its meat and attraction.

It reminds me of the missing gameplay elements in Cyberpunk. The world's built, but the activities in it aren't. Its a bit like they are giving you a huge canvas but no paint. Fuck that. Compare the random NPC/enemy spawns in Stalker 2, to the police behaviour in Cyberpunk pre-patch. Its almost the exact same lack of coding to a crucial gameplay element. Just plonk them down, no ifs or buts - or in the case of Cyberpunk, they're like god-tier actors you can't really interact with, they're just there to end your game fast if you crossed the line.

To be fair, hadn't seen that. I don't use Steam. The GOG page doesn't show that info. However, most people are not seeing those problems. Most are seeing the graphical glitches and little else.
How the HELL do you even know what 'most people are seeing'? You're being dismissive of stuff you clearly haven't got a clue about.

This. Is. Not. UE’s. Fault.

people really need to stop blaming unreal engine for lackluster optimization and testing by game devs. UE is in no way a curse.

Game has received 3000+ bug fixes since release but no, all minor, except for the fact a major gameplay system isn't even implemented yet.

Lmao

Ofc this is an EA title, stop fooling yourself. It’s a SP game with missing mechanics. I'm sure you can play it without those mechanics, but you're still not playing the game as it should be and was presented.
It’s also a game that was developed during a goddamned war in Ukraine.

maybe have some respect for the fact that they developed this during wartime.

if it's not ue fault, then why everyone is using it ?

dev started in ~2012- 2014 ? (maidan coup : real star of the conflict) ; and so what ?
I'm being realistic about all games with no biais, I try not to be biased : the game is good but it lacks, for now something about the last episodes

threatinteractive on youtube make some videos about these problems, not only UE but in general
Avowed is really bad it's facts ; kingdom come 2 for example wich I don't like at the begining is really good after 20hours ;

I'm a huge fan of STALKER 2 but boy do I wish the performance was far better. It just doesn't "look good enough" to justify the absurd resource usage and low native framerates it gets. I'm sure it doesn't help they've forked an old version of UE5 which is no doubt missing some optimization improvements as well.

I'm hoping the next big round of patches are performance focused now they've sorted out the majority of the A-Life complaints.

UE had micro stuttering from the beginning and way too heavy on a single thread.

UE has been a shitshow from the beginning so don't tell me it's not UE fault.
It was not a shitshow from the beginning so cut it out with that because that is just not true. Unreal Engine 4 was a fantastic engine, but it took developers quite a while to actually take full advantage of it. It's the same thing with Unreal Engine 5 due to how many changes it made across the entire engine. And games like Satisfactory have proven that games can perform really well in UE5, if programmed, tested, and optimized properly. It is also expected of game devs to actually fork Unreal Engine's source code and make their own changes to it rather than using the game engine as is; it's why the source code has been available since even UE4's early days for companies and idividuals so they could modify it to suit their needs. So no, don't give me that nonsense that UE is a bad engine; it most definitely is not. Admittedly, the first few versions of Unreal Engine 5 were buggy, but the same thing applied to Unreal Engine 4 too. All engines get some bugs, particualrly with new major versions. This is an inherent property of software development, particularly when it comes to developing major software like a game engine that has a crap ton of moving parts. But again, it's up to game developers to actually modify the engine if necessary to suit their targets and goals.

Also, for the future, don't link to WCCFTech. It's like one of the worst sites for tech news due to its major credibility lapses.

By the lack of massive numbers of people complaining about it in the GOG forums. Whenever something does wrong that's where they go to complain. That hasn't happened so it is unlikely that most people are seeing the problems beyond the graphical glitches.
You're being dismissive of stuff you clearly haven't got a clue about.
Is there a reason why you're being so aggressive? Please stop.
