Touche ... I did read the whole post and for some reason Malware's comments stuck in my craw, not the quote.
In any event, I wonder what MS will strip out this time to try to make their self imposed deadline?
well, if their handling of audio in Vista is any indicator - sell your speakers for the next WIN OS, as audio is going completely out the door. All audio will have to uploaded to a Zune player, and then played back - hope you don't mind a bit of a time delay
Oh, and considering MS, if you have a CRT or LCD monitor - kiss that too, WIN07 will be completely touch screen oriented
You'll probably need a webcam that supports retinal scans for validation, and instead of 30 days, they'll only give you 30 hours - they figure if they cut it down to 30 hours, that's less time the haxurz have in breaking activation codes before they'll have to re-install the OS. They're hoping to beat them by frustrating them with tighter time restraints.
I get that strange feeling in my pants, too, that you can kiss USB and 1394 support goodbye. We're going back to PS2, cause it was more stable . . . but the catch is, you'll have to buy a PS2 copmpatible IR unit, as all your peripherals will have to be wireless.
Readyboost will be a necessity, so go ahead and plan on purchasing a 120GB flash drive, as 16GB of onboard memory won't be enough for the OS to lug itself to the desktop - but you'll need to find one that supports PS2, cause USB and 1394 won't be around, remember?
WIN will have to be compatible with your video card, instead of your video card being compatible with WIN. Which means, when your getting buggy video performance in-game, you'll have to wait until the next support driver from WIN to be released. Don't expect compatiblity with Catalyst or Forceware . . . but, rumor has it, if you own a Matrox VGA, you've go nothing to worry about.
I believe this time, the EULA for WIN07 will also contain an appended "right to use" agreement that you'll have to sign before allowing usage. The agreement will require one to sign away your soul to make use of the product, and that any changing from WIN to a competing OS is strictly prohibited, and your soul will be collected upon promptly. MS has left it out of the last 2 OSes, cause they didn't think they had anything to worry about from OS-X and Linux . . . but they've changed their minds.
Seriously, though, I'm really hoping they'll at least fix the audio issues with the new OS.
