13900K 9 GHz has been Overclocked

That's stand alone or installed version? Both do that?
Stand alone like they used on the video, though they used the ROG themed version. The ZIP comes with separate versions for 32-bit and 64-bit, both of them work on 64-bit OS's
 
Anyone interested on what was the process to get this record then watch this video.

They used liquid Helium, not Nitrogen.

And there are 151 records who reached above 8GHz
 
True gold sample. -250c :). If you watch the video you'll see its less than 1 second. Its in slow mode at 800Mhz until its at -250c. Release the slow-mode and snap a screenshot.

Still this is extremely hard to achieve, but not like regular LN2 XOC.

This is the same way Elon Musk sent his Tesla to Mars , it moved at an amazing speed :) good for a "screenshot" but doesnt prove much if you cant do anything with it :) but its still something fun to see and we have to start with something :D
Exactly the same yes, this is a total waste of space, energy, and resulting junk to serve marketing purposes.

But its 'fun'.

Little longer than less of 1 second. You have time for screen shots and saving the cpu-z file.

Or it didn't happen. Seeing is believing.

Can't see the LN pot, but if it's got a lot of frost on it, around it, it was several attempts and took hours to achieve. They did mention using multiple systems also.

Just watching the vid they did it with 8P cores too.

Alot of the time they will turn them all off + HT (and now E-cores) and just run with one core to achieve these massive OC's.

I did watch the video. At least two or three times.... cause extreme is kinda thing I like!

Listen to the video. They mention putting up another video of how they reached this frequency, I don't know if it was ever uploaded. Didn't bother looking.

Because I've done extreme like this in the past, though with only LN2... My 22L dewar will give be 6 to 8 hours benching depending on the Pot I'm using, Cpu I'm using and the benchmarks being run. As example.
 
I did, I wonder why they use helium. Their temp didn't get above -190°
So, would Nitrogen be too hot for this experiment. Would they throttle like around 200 degrees higher with Nitrogen?

I wonder if we can send PCs to moon and send their outcome to earth. As if the game runs on moon and sends the produced frames to our monitor.

How much can we overclock during a spacewalk?

Helium is a bit colder than Nitrogen. I guess you can compare the two like you would water loops, AIO vs a custom loop. Colder is better. Always has been.

Not sure about the moon walk stuff, there's a lot of computers in space right now. Not really designed for gaming, but do report back to Earth regularly. Though I don't know a great deal about those computer systems, but I'd imagine they have cooling or even heaters of some sort. Most electronics are designed for room temp operation, I'm sure space computers aren't too much different if the space their in is conditioned.

I don't knock people for their weight or the way they might breath. I do try and pay attention to the words they speak though.... Maybe try that instead?

It was less than a second. You can see them press the slow mode off. Take screenshot and save whatever to that external device. Must be a macro key. At -260 the button is pressed. Crazy that it was even with 8P cores. I would have thought a single core is easier. I guess at those temps it doesn't matter.

Not that I like repeating myself, maybe wasn't clear.
That video is NOT the actual submission run.
Multiple attempts, once they confirmed the ability, they had to have time to screen shot and save the validation file.
"We will upload a video of the actual overclock at a later time" (or very very close to those words)

I do understand in the video from the link at the OP was less than a second. It was a trial run I assure you.

At like 5:10 to 5:20, they literally wait for the validation to pop up. They didn't even save the Fk'n file. Straight up submitted.

What's your Beef?

I'm gonna buy 14700k next time.
When I got my 3900x, the 11900k was newer, slower and more expensive. But things had changed since performance/efficiency cores. Gotta give intel credit for hard work and competition

If I dunk my temp lead into my Ln2 pot, it should read -195c.

Liquid Helium, which was used for this overclock, should reach -265. The where able to reach around -250c. Yes, helium is colder. Yes colder is better.

The sound is just the tube the helium is passing through. Ln2 dispensed also makes that same sound. Reminds me of whirly tubes.

No, Liquid Helium won't throttle a cpu. Opposite effect, gives larger headroom for OC.

My wonder is how many processors where binned on LN2 before they moved to helium, if that's what the did. Some of these guys will test 10s to 100s of chips to accomplish something like this....

How cold Nitrogen gets?
Is it much warmer than helium? It's just 5 more atoms down the road.
 
Nitrogen is -195c
Helium is -265c
The difference is 60c. Nitrogen is warmer by this much.

No. These are limited by other things besides temperature. Research "cold bug" for more information.

It is not possible for a 13900K to reach 100c when using Liquid Nitrogen or Helium.

I'm not sure what you're asking.
