Benchmark Scores Are in the benchmark section
Hi,
Yeah making a mountain out of a mole hill is what I'd call it
Hopefully the person that posted on this thread will read my statement more carefully than you did.
Hi,
Make sure the top of the chip and bottom of the cooler being used match = both flat or both shapes match doubt that air cooler mount is adding enough pressure frankly.

Only other mating would be to the die
Clean it off and add something like a little play dough or wax ball and press it down to see what the thickness really is.
The amount of LM isn't an issue if all the goodies are covered and sealed around the cap.

Wow, what a great original post. I must have looked over this a dozen times now.... thanks for the off topic comments today so that I could have such an awesome read about this delid experience, with Pics!!!!

Like 15 years ago, I started delidding the AMD soldered processors. My first was a Phenom 940BE. Have done very many since then.

It's nice to see the procedure really hasn't changed in all these years.

Good stuff.

It is. Its copper w/ nickel coating. The after market one has more surface area and is machined more true. This is what helps with the temps. While surface area makes the most benefit, the stock one would see some gains being lapped.

TBH the rockitcool copper IHS could also use a lapping, but lapping isnt the geometry that is getting the gains here.
Pretty sure the inside of the IHS also has a layer of gold too. Did a 13900KS delid not too long ago for a client. I enjoyed your post, very well put together!
