20 years is enough time to make a post like this.
I had this DFI motherboard back then, coupled with Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4 GHz, Geil 2X256 MB DDR 400 MHz and Point of View GeForce 6600GT 128 MB DDR3. Two of my best friends way from School days used to come at my place for LAN (we played Quakeworld in School as early as 1999 during our 9-th grade informatics class ignoring the teacher and his MS FrontPage instructions). The 6 games we used to play the most at my place were: Quake 2, Quake 3, Painkiller, StarCraft Brood War, WarCraft 3 Frozen Throne and Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge. The internet was dial-up garbage back in 2005, but we still did spend a tremendous amount time playing Quake 2 online, because of good local servers (which was not the case with Quake 3). I have spent over 1000 hours playing Quake 2 online during that period, several 100 hours playing Aliens vs. Predator 2 online and over 3000 hours playing Painkiller online (PK++). Everyone else i knew was playing Counter Strike online even though i disliked that game (slow tactical FPS was not my type). This LAN and internet fever lasted till about 2010. After that, even thought the internet connection did improve significantly, i shifted way more towards single player games.
