AMD's pleasant surprise at CES 2019, the Radeon VII graphics card, found its way to our doorstep. We unbox the card and zoom in on the sharp edges of its industrial reference design in the run up to our full review.

Everyone is unboxing, no tests yet. Assume AMD has some driver issues to workout before numbers can be released.

only, i repeat only one new thing is good that amd gpu, is that is build 7nm process, but that its and all. so amd was1st, but i dont think mvidia 'need' it yet...
anyway, amd cant use it anyway, useless 'gift' for amd, like pearls for pigs.

example #1

radeon VII 7nm process build tdp 300w!!!!
rtx 2080 12nm proces build 225W!!

well, i can sya that 5nm different SHOULD give amd huge advance and handicap, but no, amd cant do anything better, its just like fury and vega gpus, slow, but eat power like hell.

its sure even now that nvidia flagship rtx 2080ti crushed it. and thats gpu we need compare it, bcoz as all know radeon VII IS flagship of amd gpu sector now 2019.
so, amd WANT comapre it rtx 2080.. wel ,lol why not rtx 2070? and dare HYPETING that, ' its fight against even with rtx 2080..'
so what..

but, as all know its not win even jurassic park old gtx 1080ti and rtx 2080 beat it easily, bcoz 225W against 300W took all., its mean apractical that nvidia can oc'd rtx 2080 from about 80W so its take same juice than radeon VII.

thats why its slow and have lausy efficiency.

DONT ORDER ADVANCE!! you and rednecks will be dissapoinment ..and cry ..soon.

last:
real comapre coming when nvidia releaseit rtx 3000 series.bcoz thouse are ALSO 7nm process build, and rtx 3060 easily win radeon VII amds flagship gpu.. and doing it 50% less power!!!!

shame amd, how you dare offerthat junk ppl.. over 400$ is pricey. and value drop very quick.

Very professional and clean PCB, I like it.

Never been a fan of vertical fin stacks though, except maybe with the new vertical video card case mounts even if they do keep the card itself cooler.

I am guessing English in not your first language. Perhaps a little more time put into your post will clarify some points for people.

It's a knee jerk response to sell a few cards and make press for AMD, they are selling these at a loss from what I have read.

Somehow it feels like a Radeon 8500 back then.
Large, good looking card for its time, good performance too... but... a lots of but's...

Perhaps for 4K whit high power draw.
There should be this year new 75w card whit lower price than nvida2060

NDA is not up yet

AMD really sent you a card this time so fast? Wow.

TC-HM03 is rated at 20-45 W/m· K on Hitachis website http://www.hitachi-chem.co.jp/english/products/cc/026.html i guess it depends on the mounting pressure , interesting stuff considering something like Kryonaut is rated at 12 W/m· K . Further investigation is needed , hopefully GamerNexus will deliver !

Impossible, since our @W1zzard says clearly that the disassembly pics were taken after the review number were taken.

NDA is not lifted yet, so we should wait for that. Also, the GPU stand is one sweet addition. :3

Bullshit.
Original bom was $750, supposedly it is $650 now, so not necessarily a loss now but not much gains to split between AMD and "card brand manager"

Bullshit.
If AIBs can sell vega 64s for as low as 400 dollars with 3 AAA games bundled, then I don't think the manufacturing cost of this thing to be any higher than 500$.
This product is overpriced, just like nvidia's 20 series.

It's more like $650-750 depending on version.
Sure, you may see a $400 offer once in a while (for the blower cooler usually), but that doesn't mean the seller is making profit. It means he has that card in stock and he either sells it or keeps it. :)

yet another gimmick from amd. stop putting dead chips and make working ones more affordable amd by testing the die before soldering

Vega is not 7nm
Vega does not have 16GB of HBM2
This cost a lot of R&D dollars.

Most of the PCB is VRM! This thing is going to be a power hungry beast.
