TAITRA, the governing body behind the annual Computex trade-show held in Taipei each June, announced that AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su will host a keynote address which promises to be as exciting as her CES keynote. It is revealed that Dr. Su will simultaneously launch or unveil at least four product lines. High up the agenda is AMD's highly anticipated 3rd generation Ryzen desktop processors in the socket AM4 package, based on "Zen 2" microarchitecture, and a multi-chip module (MCM) codenamed "Matisse." This launch could be followed up by a major announcement related to the company's 2nd generation EPYC enterprise processors based on the "Rome" MCM.

PC enthusiasts are in for a second major announcement, this time from RTG, with a technical reveal or unveiling of Radeon "Navi," the company's first GPU designed from the ground up for the 7 nm silicon fabrication process. It remains to be seen which market-segment AMD targets with the first "Navi" products, and the question on everyone's minds, whether AMD added DXR acceleration, could be answered. Lastly, the company could announce more variants of its Radeon Instinct DNN accelerators.

C'mon AMD, get on top again. I'd love to relive those old Athlon XP days. AMD has not been the same since they bought ATI. ATI was beating nvidia back then too.

With supposedly hexacore ryzen 3 and even more ridiculous core counts for mid-to-high end processors? I've just pulled the trigger on Ryzen upgrade (last night), and I'm still gonna buy a 3000-series CPU this summer.
I think it'll be a worthwhile upgrade from any platform. Especially if you factor-in nearly doubled iGPU performance of upcoming APUs (read - cheap HTPC rigs with a whoomp on par with GTX1060 or Skull Canyon NUC).

Seeing is believing. Both in the case of Ryzen 3 and Navi... Good faith on the first but not so much on the latter. Unveiling... meh, mild interest, its a GPU, surprise surprise. I want performance metrics :p

That's not going to happen. AMD's APU always follow their IGP less counterparts with a delay anywhere between a quarter to two, in some cases even more.

Can't say why but I think that's always been the case since the early days of bulldozer.

I don't get why this is so surprising for some. AMD is developing 2 products at the same time (Zen 2 and Navi).
Why would they not launch them together? This combination is meant to be the backbone of next gen consoles - the most important market for AMD.
I think it'll be a worthwhile upgrade from any platform. Especially if you factor-in nearly doubled iGPU performance of upcoming APUs (read - cheap HTPC rigs with a whoomp on par with GTX1060 or Skull Canyon NUC).
Do we have any official statement on Navi APU performance? Where exactly is this "nearly doubled" performance coming from?

It seems to be Ryzen release while Navi will be just revealing (not actual launch).. At least this is what I can get from the Title saying Ryzen launch and Navi reveal.

Some of you don't seem to get it so let me get this through to you:
AMD to Simultaneously Launch 3rd Gen Ryzen and Unveil Radeon "Navi" This June

They're not launching Zen 2 and Navi simultaneously in June, they'll do the announcement for Navi just like the one for Zen 2 during this year's CES. That means we can probably expect Navi to actually launch during late Q3 or Q4 of 2019, at best.

the new GPU core launching in Q3 or Holiday 2019 is fine by all means. For Ryzen 3000, launching that late might make some folks a little disappointed...

So they're not launching Zen 3xxx in June or BTS, then why does the headline say otherwise?

I'm refering to multiple persons in this thread that seem to cream their pants with "Zen 2 and Navi launch in June" in their minds. Yeah, Zen 2 launches in June, that's true and that's also what the headline says. Navi? Not so much.

But sure you can cherry pick my post and try to be a smartass.

I've never bought into AMD hype because I'm not a complete sucker, but Zen 2 is something I can actually get excited about. Zen 1 was close enough to Intel's lineup that a refresh should bring some interesting choices back to the market instead of the awkward position they're at now. I would love to see an APU that actually challenges the low end i3s and i5s.

Nothing of this is part of the press release. Where do you claim to get any of this from? Navi launch is at this point still very unlikely.

IMO, 16C Ryzen 3000 won't cannibalize 3rd gen 16C TR since the 16C ThreadRipper will use 4 Chiplets with larger Cache versus 2 Chiplets on Desktop part+ higher boost clocks since it's better binned.

I'm really hoping for a higher clocked APU with better GPU capabilities, four cores is adequate for my needs so I'm putting off a build until I see if they come out with something to replace my current X79 with 10C/ 20T.

If amd brings double core count to ryzen 3xxx plus same single-threading performance as Intel then it will be a very successful product. I have been holding to buy this at launch and this time I believe amd will deliver.

IMO, 16C Ryzen 3000 won't cannibalize 3rd gen 16C TR since the 16C ThreadRipper will use 4 Chiplets with larger Cache versus 2 Chiplets on Desktop part+ higher boost clocks since it's better binned.

The only company that enjoyed cannibalizing its cpu line was Intel because they had no competition prior to ryzen, ops did i say "cannibalizing" more like "uncannibalizing", to me even ryzen 2700x 12nm is not worth x intel coffee lake regarding single threading performance, I believe amd will be equal or a bit faster than intel on single thread performance this time around, i'm confident on that.

Plus, companies like intel which decides to not release a better product because of cannibalizing its own product does not deserve my money whatsoever. If it was up for Intel without competition we midrange users would never need a core count more than a quadcore which is pathetic. Intel was selling a 10 cores 7900X core cpu for $999 few months ago, 3 times more than a 2700x $300.

Haha, Navi will just be the old GCN with band aid. They say they fixed some short comings of GCN, what now?! After a decade they fix it.

I say it's to little to late, RTG now days are nothing but a paper tiger.

They will present old GCN with band aid as some thing all new and amazing and top it with a bad watered down version of Ray Tracing.

It will all sound so amazing in the presentation that people spontaneously drops down in split just out of pure joy BUT when the real world benchmarks hits the internet everybody goes and buys nvidia again out of disappointment.
