I'm really curious what Intel can do with the upcoming refresh, I mean this is already pushed to its limits.

Yeah it's interesting for sure..... Raptorlake is a decent arch but the amount of power intel needs to push to stay competitive is a bit concerning. I guess we will see with Meteor Lake if this trend continues.

Yeah... it's either absurd levels of power consumption with intel, or dodgy software with amd. Pick your poison.

Although Wiz seemed to get his 7800X3D in good working order. Maybe AMD sent him a golden sample.

I think it might simply be amd's drivers for win10 being VERY subpar, as the ones i see with the issues all use win10.

That's my suspicion as well and it really shouldn't be the case.

I am choosing 5800X3D!
But I think Intel and AMD almost got the same levels of software, coz if resent bugs with Intel 2.5Gb Ethernet.

If you already have an AM4 board, then it is deffo the most sensible upgrade.

It really shouldn't.

The only difference is the Intel cpu's are actually still pretty decent..... Bulldozer was not only inefficient but performed like shite......

Tbf the intel cpu's (the 13900ks in particular) are way more power hungry than the bulldozers ever were... xD

So, is this the first Processor in history that can run @ 114°C without thermal throttling once you set 115°C threshold in the bios?

12900KS could as well by spec. This also means by proxy all the 12 and 13th gen if you set it to 115c in the BIOS.

Just for reference about 380~ watts gets you 42K in Cinebench R23

Holy Jesus. I mean as i thought this processor makes no sense for gaming, way too power hungry and toasty but even for creative work and multi tasking it makes little sense. I can't imagine the CPU alone pumping 350w heat into my room. I'll get heat stroke !!

This smells like FX-9590 all over. Made only to break the highest clock ever (in turbo mode) out of the box.
Power efficiency be damned.

Might I say the 13900KS does as well? Might not suck at performance, but sucks juice outta the mains with a pump-powered straw.

I guess they both suck in their own ways you could say.
