4A Games Announces Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition for PC - Free Upgrade for Existing Owners

Finished the base games but haven't started the 2 DLCs yet, this would be a good reason to play the game again and the 2 DLCs.

It does not say the two DLC are being supported, but I can't see them leaving it out, but it makes me think the two old DLC are not compatible with the new engine,

Love the last sentence. Sad but true. Took me until yesterday to find/get one.... from an official shop. For 150% MSRP ..... disgusting. But sadly I needed a new GPU for my GF's pc (I will be able to survive "losing" 250€ on a 3070, but not the complaints of my GF that we can't play TheDivision2 together :D .... she'd kill me soon :D )

Does this mean that nothing changes apart from the ray tracing quality? So technically if I run this and the original game on my 5700 XT, I will see absolutely no difference? (If we suppose that it runs)

I would like to see "Vulkan" API added into the mix. That will make it more interesting.

I can agree with that, but I also see an opportunity for the developer to put the new engine to the test.
So basically using customers as beta testers for a new(er) engine? Wouldn't be a first time...

That's quick, I suppose those updates were easy. So Redux is in fact the fully finished game then, gotcha.

It's supposed to come to Linux this year, so I think it will be supported by the engine (I can't imagine them making this game run on OpenGL in freaking 2021). Can't say if it will be exposed as a setting, though. I kinda wish they do so.
We’re happy to confirm that the Mac version is expected to release on the Mac App Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store in March, with the Linux version set to follow a little later in the year on Steam!
Though they don't say if the Linux version will be released on GOG...

No piece of software is free of errors. You can try to cover as many different software and hardware configurations as possible, but there will be always that one system with just a teeny tiny little different bit that will make the game not work at all or just perform terribly.

The new edition will not run if you don't have a RT-capable GPU, so it will be separated from the current version:
This upgrade is so extensive, it will require a Ray Tracing capable GPU as the minimum spec, and we will need to deliver this version as a separate product – it is not a simple ‘patch’ to the base game – instead it will be offered as an extra entitlement to all existing Metro Exodus PC players.
Applying the same philosophy as our Xbox and PlayStation upgrades, this PC Enhanced Edition will be FREE to all existing Metro Exodus owners on the Epic Games Store, Steam and GoG. You can expect the PC Enhanced Edition to release later this Spring.

Ah, so it's basically an extensive RT patch with no option to turn RT off. Thanks. :)

Yeah, but if this is the path & other developers follow suit, it will take out a lot of users, forcing them to upgrade they GFX card..

I've got the original Metro Exodus, so this patch isn't really forcing me to do anything. :)
