Just a possible ground point. Could cause shorts if the board starts to flex and the screws start touching copper stuff they shouldn't.

I did a similar thing for fun with a Zalman 310 I had and 3 zipties. No pictures but the card was at 44c under load! Certainly an extremely cost effective method!
