Hello!
I have overclocked my 7600 GS to 780 mhz from the 500mhz default
I am a bit worried because the gpu clock does not go more than 590 mhz from the 450 mhz default, cuz the screen crashes a lot. (1 time in 5 seconds)
But it didnt happen when i tried to overclock the memory to the max possible in riva tuner
and the computer remains really stable.
The max settings of Vtune are 590 mhz (GPU) and 600 (memory)
The max settings for Riva are 675 (GPU) and 780 (memory)

are you able to play games at 675/780 using Riva?

No... What i am saying is that i am able to play games at 590mhz (gpu) and 780mhz (memory)

time to upgrade that card , i used to have one of these lol it was so pathetic i dont know what " games" u claim to play but they must be ancient to get anything over 25fps.

Yeah sorry to say, but the 7 series cards dont overclock good at all. You could get an after market gpu cooler and maybe sqeeze out a few more mhz, but your better off getting a larger card.

I kinda wish no one had bought a 7xxx series. Nvidia actually decreased image quality from the 6xxx series to win the frame-rate war. What good is frame-rate if you have shit image quality? Could you imagine fermi with worse image quality than the 2xx series? People would flip.

I loved my 7900 GT, thank you very much.

He was saying how no one should have bought the 7 series...I was stating I was completely happy with my 7 series card, therefore putting down his theory/statement.

He would need to do a complete upgrade or build a brand new system if he wants to experience completely new performance.

One important point is that you guys talk in the past for your cards, but i like my 7600gs even at present and i like it so damn much that even after i will buy a new pc for 1st june, i will not change the card :P
So can you imagine a PC with these specs:
Asus ROG Crosshair IV formula
AMD 435 X3 Rana
Ram 2 GB
HDD 500 GB
7600 GS :D :D :D

Are you related to UK2Online by chance ? :)

i beg to differ, i had a 7900GS that i got to 610/920, no bios mod or hard mod or cooling mod

2006 called, they want their video card back

um mussels wasnt the 7k series from 2005 lol 2006 was the first year of the 8800s :toast:

hmm well talk about short lifespan as it wasnt 3 months later G80 popped out lol

Some cards clock like insane. I also got insane overclock on GeForce 8400 GS. Can't remember how much exactly, but i remember it was over 250MHz on core and well over 300MHz extra on memory.
It was a passive cooled Gainward 8400 GS. I just slammed a 80mm fan on those massive heatsink fins.

I said I wished no one had. Nvidia didn't deserve money for trying to win the fps war with such a dick move... hoping the ignorant masses wouldn't notice the IQ drop, which for the most part they didn't. To this day people mostly just look at what card is on the top of the chart, but it's better now that the IQ is much more comparable between the two brands than it was in the past. With the 7xxx series, it was truly disgustingly bad.

Now how does that put down my statement (don't know what the "theory" bit is about)? If you liked it thats fine. Just means either you didn't care about the quality issue for some reason, you radically preferred nvidia drivers, or you never researched your purchase enough to know about it. None of which effects what I said.

Had one & i could do 535 on the core & 880 on ram but that wasn't stable so i run the card 510/864 24/7 (flash Bios to those clocks) & never got any problems with these clocks , the card still run in one of my friends PC

Anyhow it was such a slow card to begin with that it doesn't matter how high you'll go , it is gona lag in most games (old ones) or stock at 1024x768 or under with low details...:ohwell:

I got 256 MB gddr3 and it manages 18.8 GB/s bandwidth.
The die size is 100mm square and it is made with 80 nm technology.
I bought this card in 2007, cuz at that time 6600 GT was 30$ more pricier which is something i thought really stupid looking at the 7xxx and 6xxx number. One difference was that the 6600 had 512 ram ddr2 instead of 256 gddr3. I think this was a best buy as the 7600GS at that time was the most pricier card a gamer could get (meaning directly from the shop). There was a 7600GT with 256 memory again, but the gs version was 20$ more so i choose this one. One of my friends, who now lives in america, said that the GT is much better than my GS so i bought the wrong card. He bought the GT too after two weeks and turned out that the GT (his verion) had graphic quality like crap. Even now i see in ALL reviews that the GT is better... but he was amazed and really envious of the graphic quality my GS had. Wizzard himself told me that this is a better version than other GS cards, cuz i saw in all reviews and wikipedia that GS is fabricated in 90nm not as mine 80nm, which means better. Even if the GT had higher clocks than mine, still the performance was not as good.
