i have a palit 970 and evga sc 970 and i have reseated both and switched them around, both are getting power and show up but does not allow me to sli as in the control panel it says disable sli and will not allow me to change it, the sli bridge is the one that came with my motherboard (z97pro gamer) and hasnt been used until yesterday.

my first guess would be to confirm your motherboard supports SLI , i know you said it came with a bridge, but Confirm anyway make sure its not Xfire compliant only or some other mistake.. try a different SLI bridge.....confirm its not a bunk gpu...

yes the motherboard is sli ready and the gpu is fine as it shows up on device manger and nvidia control panel

I agree, specs, then if no other bridge is on hand, you may need to score one. A lot of people don't pay it much mind ,but an SLI bridge can be damaged and look perfectly fine still.

If you haven't already ,individually test each card installed on it's own by itself. just verifying that shows up in device manager because that's not an adequate way to determine functionality

Have you gone into that Nvidia control panel and made sure to enable SLI? If it says disable sli, shouldnt it be enabled then?

Run GPUz and take a screenshot of it please

Z97 pro gamer tells us enough... it supports sli.

Did you install drivers after both were installed?


Sell them and get a 1080.. less hassle.

nvidia drivers were installed before adding second gpu, uninstalled using ddu and installed drivers after adding the gpu.

I have tried using differentsliauto on the latest nvidia driver it patches and installs but no option for sli still

have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times

Some 970's from EVGA just will not SLI, I remember reading it when i bought my second one a while back and worried whilst waiting for it to be delivered, check the cards part number

There are three versions of the GTX 970: A blower-style cooler with a short circuit board, an ACX cooler with a full size circuit board, and an updated version of the GTX 970, SSC, and FTW models. The three styles of GTX 970s will not function in SLI together. See the chart below to see which cards will function together in SLI. Cards in the same column will function in SLI together. A card from one column will not work in SLI with a card from another column.

well this is a head scratcher then, im gonna guess something simple was missed, or there is a faulty component if every check posted has already been tried and ruled out.

If the card isn't faulty and the driver and board is OK, this is going to be a card specific issue, swapping to another model would be my go-to atm. It should be a low-cost or no-cost fix.

Uncheck dedicate to PhysX and select CPU. Apply. Reload NVCP. Try to enable SLI.

Also try to replace your SLI connector, because I don't believe I've ever seen that message when I ran SLI.

Are they installed in the top two slots?

That's just idling - or could be.

Now, @OP: notice the exclamation mark @ the sentence for the SLI connector. You need a new one

Okay i will get a new one, i did speak to nvidia yesterday on their live support and they did say everything was fine and that it should be working but since its not they said it could be the evga compatibility or the bridge.

I was thinking, read board manual, ensure cards are in correct slot, ensure chipset drivers are installed, sli bridge installed then gpu driver
