is yours the same as mine dude..?? my AX8 board has a little guru chip on it..
i know u have different chipset just wondering if the gurus are the same
mine comes with three none adjustable default settings normal.. turbo and quiet (which aint quiet) which i dont use..
three user settings and one called default which seems to mirror whatever u set the softmenu thing at..
the user settings let u set fsb speed.. voltages and fan speeds.. u end up with three profiles.. i have user1 at 2.6.. user2 at 2.75 and user3 at 2.9.. all voltages set acccordingly.. up to 2.6 i leave em as default.. above i tweak em a bit..
as for the softmenue.. i am bit a puzzled about that but whatever u put in it ends up as the "default" setting i have mine at 2.4 gig..
configure autodrive lets u associate any program with any profile.. all my games i have linked to user2 2.75 gig.. for decoding.. winrar.. quickpar and similar things i have linked to user3 2.9 gig.. the odd thing is linked to user1 2.6.. when these progs shut down it reverts back to the "default" which in my case is 2.4 gig.. the real 3700 default of 2.2 gig never gets used..
basically the machine boots at 2.4 gig and stays there till something gets run that matches a profile then it adjusts accordingly when left in autodrive as it mostly is..
u can select any of the four profiles manually and it all stays there.. it all seems to remember which profile it was in the next time it boots up.. with a system crash or improper shutdown of guru it goes back to the softmenue default at next boot up 2.4 in my case..
atitool does pretty much the same with the grfx card.. just cranks speeds up when in 3D and goes back to a slower speed when back in 2D mode.. again its all done pretty much the same just linking 3D to user set profiles/saves...
together the pair of em work very well.. basically the machine works pretty much like a laptop does only with more user control.. i have come to the conclusion all machines should work this way.. he he..
the abit stuff works so well i think cos of the special chip which lets the software talk to the hardware.. the abit via based AX8 board is a little gem to be honest.. runs far cooler than an nforce based board seems to.. has all the clocking options and just works with no problems..
i must admit to buying via cos they come cheaper.. but this one is as good as any..
i even ditched my creative sound card.. i have always had choppyness with onboard sound before.. this one works perfectly.. cant tell the difference tween it and the creative card.. except the interface is better..
