ADATA XPG Atom 50 1 TB

this might be something I might consider getting as my new drive.

The pricing in interesting and it does make sense now since I just recently picked up a 1TB, WD SN850 for $145. The reason why I picked up this stick is because it got excellent reviews from professional photographers doing digital editing.

Are you a pro photographer? I'm always looking to expand my test suite. During which tasks do you feel a speed difference between SSDs?

The game loading times interest me & again I notice bugger all difference really between PCIe3 & 4 M.2 drives. I mean we are talking about a second or two here, hardly worth the upgrade if one is already on PCIe3 M.2 storage. But if your doing a complete rebuild or new build, then sure throw money at PCIe4 storage of course.
This will not improve until games start using DirectStorage.

But even that will not be a revolution. Games would have to be designed for SSDs only, ditching HDD support, which will not happen anytime soon. Ratchet & Clank on PS5 is an amazing example of what can be achieved with SSDs.

Even taking into account adata's damaging track record of changing components, this is by far the most interesting SSD released in the last couple of years: cheap and way faster than qlc. It's way, way better than all other qlc combo products out there. Some product manager should be proud.

I personally confirmed with ADATA that they are guaranteeing the tested hardware combination: Innogrit IG5220 RainierQX controller with Micron "B47R" 176-layer 3D TLC NAND

It's great to see some kind of guarantee but thrust doesn't reappear over night. Time will tell, they only have themselves to blame if they screw it up again
