I think I'd of done this on mini-itx. For desktop use the 4300 beats the 5800k for less $$$, so the only point of the 5800k is the apu for HTPC or low power gaming capabilities. No point in pairing it with a card on a full sized board.

you had this in the making for a long time. Its excellent. i was so immeres i forgot its past 4 am XD

i would think that people who can afford to spend on a 7970 would have enough money for a processor better than either two, for the sake of balancing.

infact. what i think, is, that it would have been interesting to see just the bare CPUs pitted together. Also adding a GPU to the i3 which is equivalent to the cost diff between the two would be a fairer comparison

Thank you. I think you are correct. I sold my 7770 so I was forced to use the 7970 but the effect is the same at least for CPU and relative gaming performance. IMO, Trinity is a very good choice at $129.

The review has the same dedicated card and there is no secret on the A10-5800K vs. core i3 3220. CPU performance will be the same as all the above benchmarks but the 7660D thrashes Intels 2500 Graphics. Both CPU's go for $129 so adding a GPU to the i3 is the same as adding to the Trinity APU das.

Trinity is not FX category. FX processors do not have a built in GPU but yes, if your going for desktop with a dedicated GPU and the price of the 4300 puts it as a better choice.

Nope, sorry, i3 3220 supports three monitors just fine. It is same as A10-5800K, monitor support is about board, not chip.

Wow, really?! Every board that has display output that I've used the i3 on has only supported 2 monitors. Even Intel brand boards, even boards with 3 outputs... That is stupid to not support the features the chip support.

DP daisy-chaining is the substitute that "makes it OK".
