AMD is preparing the launch of the Radeon RX 7900 series of graphics cards for December 13th. And, of course, with recent launches being coated in uncertainty regarding availability, we are getting more rumors about what the availability could look like. According to Kyle Bennett, founder of HardOCP, we have information that AMD is allegedly preparing 200,000 Radeon RX 7900 SKUs for launch day. If the information is truthful, among the 200,000 launch-day SKUs, there should be 30,000 Made-by-AMD (MBA) cards, while the rest are AIB partner cards. This number indicates that AMD's market research has shown that there will be a great demand for these new GPUs and that the scarcity problem should be long gone.

A few days ago, we reported that the availability of the new AMD Radeon generation is reportedly scarce, with Germany receiving only 3,000 MBA designs and the rest of the EMEA region getting only 7,000 MBA SKUs as well. With today's rumor going around, we would like to know if this is correct and if more SKUs will circulate. America's region could receive most of the MBA designs, and AIB partners will take care of other regions. Of course, we must wait for tomorrow's launch and see how AMD plans to execute its strategy.

There, fixed it.

Paper launch. So they either are launching just to say they have anything or it's some weird plot to create artificially constrained demand. I'm more inclined for the 2nd.

Wasn't the information "200,000 Radeon RX 7900 Series GPUs in 2022", not launch day, and this could also mean just 200.000 GPU chips made until 2023, not necessarily 200.000 graphics cards in stores?

And EU apparently needs it's own PC industry, because we're getting fucked by all of the involved. But I doubt we'll get it.

For this market segment it should be ok. The protectionist measure to allocate the large proportion of it to its own US market is not ok.

The PC industry is in its final days - there is no much more room left for production improvements aka node shrinks.

Scalpers going to be eating good this Christmas

Wow!

Europe doesn't get cards, despite being the wealthier region with more potential customers. WTH?

Wow, did you actually believe what you wrote? Earnings for product sales are based on nominal dollar earnings. The average European earns almost HALF the average American (current nominal GDP per capita in the US is 90 percent higher than Europe). The US market for video cards is way larger than the European one, mainly because there are more people with more money.

I'm not American and the prices in the US look positively cheap for them in comparison to what I pay. $1000 in my country would be great, $1000 USD is way too much.

Where is your US?
Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Ireland, Monaco, Switzerland, Norway are all well above.

The EU market alone is towards 500 million people, while the US is much smaller - only around 300 million.

People buy GPU's, not GDP, that doesn't even represent how much money people have, that's the countries wealth divided by number of people. I'm sure there are a lot of people with money to buy 4090's in either the US or Europe, that's an absurd discussion.

Hi folks, don't derail the article with a GDP epeen competition. Keep it on topic moving forward please.

I have zero factual proof but just, cynically speaking, if the loudest media and your biggest shareholders are in the States then it makes sense to allocate as much as you can there to keep them happy, while euros can cry in their languages nobody except them understands.

Especially when people can and do use their credit cards for such purchases - even a poor person can take 7900 XTX, no problem.

Maybe it's time for sanctions against AMD. Some good fine of a billion or two will make them think twice :D

I can also just compare New York versus Ireland if I wanted to be silly. You said Europe was wealthier than the US, I pointed out that the average income in the US is almost double, a fact. Have a nice day. I'm not doing an epeen comparison (I am not American) and you clearly just want to argue about something that is false, which is bizarre, I was just correcting you about why most products prefer to launch in the US because the companies want USD on their balance sheets.

I hope everyone enjoys their 7900 XTX, if they buy one! Cheers :)

I think the reviews are going to be brutal to AMD. We'll see.

If I can buy the 7900 XT tomorrow I think I will actually get one if it is near MSRP. Just avoid the $100 markup ones.

Ahh I miss the old [H]
Doesn't he work at Intel now?

US companies supply their own market first before they move to another regions. AMD is US company so priority is US and then other regions. If the products are scarce at the beginning it is nothing unusual if the demand is big.

200k of cards is not a lot considering Christmas time :D I'd wait for next year with purchases since it probably will be a scalping fest this year with AMD cards.

RTX4XXXs have been available since launch, so there is some hope.

IDC, they could have 1 million each country still not buying them.

that makes no sense, that's 30k out of the 200k. Asus, Gigabyte, MSI (the big ones that will have the most cards) are not american companies

AMD is an US company and chips are being shipped to US first to supply the market. The companies you mentioned are not European companies either but Taiwanese and yet Taiwan gets how many?
Priority will always be US no matter how you slice it other regions will get something but not a lot if the demand is huge since AMD and AIBs can produce a finite number of GPUs at one go.

I'm sure there is a reason as much as i'm sure your just making stuff up. Asus will ship for the US because AMD is american?!, that makes no sense at all.

Market priority is US due to huge demand in general. The cost for selling in US is reduced. Price for GPU in EU is never MSRP due to regulation, taxes etc.) If you produce a product would you ship it to a far land with additional cost or sell it in your neighborhood if people are willing to buy it knowing you have limited capacity? It is also end of year and budgets are predicted for next year.

Wonder if we will see a multi GCD version this generation. Chip let design is kinda pointless without multi GCD apart from being a few bucks cheaper to make.
