AMD (NYSE: AMD) announced today that Rajan Naik, 40, has joined the company as senior vice president and chief strategy officer. He will report to president and chief executive officer Rory Read. Naik, who was most recently a Partner in McKinsey & Company's Technology practice will be responsible for AMD's short-and long-term strategy development, including market opportunities, strategic partnerships and investment strategies.

"Rajan Naik possesses a strong track record of execution in strategic planning, product and market strategy, and operational performance," Read said. "He will help ensure strategic and operational alignment across our business to take advantage of growth opportunities in lower power, emerging markets and cloud computing."

Mr. Naik spent 11 years at McKinsey & Company, where he provided counsel to various companies in the technology and telecom industries. Prior to his tenure at McKinsey, Mr. Naik worked as a senior engineer at Intel Corporation. Prior to Intel, he was a member of the technical staff at Lucent Technologies.

Mr. Naik joins AMD following the appointment of Dr. Lisa Su as senior vice president and general manager, global business units, as well as the appointment of Mark Papermaster as senior vice president and chief technology officer.

Mr. Naik has a bachelor's degree in engineering from Cornell University and a PhD in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He will be primarily based in Austin, Texas.

AMD sure is bringing in some firepower. They want the server and mainstream market really bad.

Let's hope that this guy can make AMD more competitive against Intel.

Let's hope that this guy can make AMD more competitive against Intel.

The only way AMD will be more competitive is to sell competitive products . Right now they have some but not as much . Also getting the word out about AMD is as easy as buying air time on the TV like Intel does . You know them commercials for Intel ? Well AMD has NONE ! Looks like another CEO for AMD .

as senior vice president i promise you more rebrands and more rebrands

long live the rebrands!

is that an indian?

is that an indian?

For sure some foreign guy . Not a big surprise there really . Foreign company hiring foreign workers ! AMD doesn't know how to hirer American people for an American based position .

well he HAS an phD from MIT :p

Yeah they come over here to get educated then take our jobs ! What a JOKE ! :slap:

We should murded them in their sleep. Let the bloodbath begin, we will eat their intestines.

Well I am not saying that . But this is getting on my nerves . :banghead:

Maybe if they hired some real talent from America they might get some place ? :wtf:

Must be happy with his paycheck.

Maybe if they hired some real talent from America they might get some place ? :wtf:

maybe if America had real talent to hire that would happen, but as it stands our education system is a joke and we are far behind , esp india & china in math & science.

so you're for Affirmative Action as long as it's Americans getting jobs they don't deserve?

Sounds more like the consultant(s) the old group listened to that got them in this mess... Rory wass-up? :wtf:

While the rest of you complain about his last name and nationality, on a post by a guy name btarunr from Hyderabad, India! :shadedshu

The Man (Rajan Naik) should be measured on His Own Merits.

Any complaints or racial or derogatory remarks should be kept to oneself.

Yup, I'll second Casecutter & jsfitz54 here. Let's just judge this guy on his merits/job performance rather than where he comes from. One thing you can be sure of: for anyone to get to this position, they're no slacker sponging off the state, regardless of their ethnic origin.

For sure some foreign guy . Not a big surprise there really . Foreign company hiring foreign workers ! AMD doesn't know how to hirer American people for an American based position .

Ridiculous. Get a good education, work hard, get a good job. Who cares where they are from? What American people need to do is work hard, get a good education etc. and not think they are entitled to some job just because they are American. Pathetic.

Did you read?:

Just because your ethnicity isn't one of the majorities of the country doesn't make you "some foriegner". Besides, the great thing about America is that anyone can come here and be an American.

Now that being said and getting off the topic of racism, AMD just seems to be a revolving door of employees much like McDonalds.

40 and going bald  , i am older and i am not bald

if you dont like him, i am now rebranding him to swedish

the power of rebranding is unlimited !!

Yeah they come over here to get educated then take our jobs ! What a JOKE ! :slap:

because 1/2 the time their willing to put in the hours.

Anyways hopefully it will help AMD in some way positive.

Maybe if they hired some real talent from America they might get some place ? :wtf:

A Native American? or just a white skinned guy?

Maybe if they hired some real talent from America they might get some place ? :wtf:

What you are saying is completely flawed.

So are you saying that only Americans are talented? So where I live in the UK there aren't talented people? No talented people in Europe?

You saying its impossible for talented people to exist in Europe, Eastern Europe South East Asia or Asia (India).

Talent is indigenous to American culture? Is that what you are saying?

Yeah they come over here to get educated then take our jobs ! What a JOKE ! :slap:

Come over where? Indian's were the very first Americans in the United States. The caucasians kicked the Indians out their OWN country and took over. Just you remember that. Those Indians are more American than you. Mr Ignorant.

lol those aren't Indians! Indians are from India - those are Native Americans - or their individual tribe names as they never called themselves "native american"

columbus thought he had landed in India, and we refused to ever stop calling them that.
