AMD Debuts Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 Powered by RDNA 4, and FSR 4

A 7900XTX is about 10% faster than a 7900XT.
Going by the TPU data base its more like ~15% as a broad average across multiple resolutions.

edit: in the end the extra performance has to come from somewhere. Pointing at past models is not a predictor of future performance from different models.

So if the 7900XTX give 160 FPS and the 7900XT 145 FPS can you actually feel that? I play at 4K and that is what the difference was for me in pure raster

Its absolutely reasonable to look at the best performance + features for the dollar at the time you're buying so yes I do care about that and so will others.

Especially since that is the OC'ed performance of the 9070 and not the stock one.

Well I have a Wife and Kids so performance/dollar matters to me. As I have said I bought a 7900XTX and had to return it. In that time frame the 7900XT launched for $400 less in my currency. I jumped and am so happy that I did. That $400 went into my investments and is no longer $400. So maybe I am weird for thinking that saving money is the best in this space. The ethos in this space has changed so much. There was a time when things like 3 core CPUs that you could unlock to 4 for $50 was more enthusiast than having a GPU with 24GB for $2000 to play Quake, Minecraft and CP2077 they way they changed it to play. I guess that is why Intel are still pricing their CPUs higher than AMD. It is unfortunate and now we get things like USB4 in lieu of PCIe lanes because someone thinks that having 5 M2 and at least 4 SATA slots is not enough for Storage on the MB. Or maybe we want to have EGPU on our Desktop. When you think about it the implementation was foolish and has Amazon's robot pricing at $699 Canadian for the X870E Taichi Lite. You can also forget about the Taichi. I even saw one on Ebay for $1100. Why do I mention that board? While all the other X870E boards with nuetered PCIe sit on shelves the Taichi still supports x8/8 on the top 2 PCIe slots and is $100 cheaper than any board with that connectivity. Combine those 2 and that board is harder to find than a 9800X3D.

OC is for the user to discover as no 2 computer components perform exactly the same in that regard.

For me, my wife doesn't care if a spend a few K on myself every year, but if I spend a few K at once, there are going to be questions, and my answers better satisfy.. or else its me and the hub for awhile.

For you young single guys who answer to no one but yourselves, enjoy this time. Because one day, when responsibility comes knocking at the door in the shape of double Dees..

I basically said the same already: "best performance + features for the dollar at the time you're buying" so I have no clue what the point of your post is in relation to mine or to the previous commentary on the likely performance and cost of the 9070 will be.

I've also already stated AMD needs to price it fairly low vs the 5070 for it to make sense and sell well.

Many cards are also stock OC, as you well know, so bringing them up is way to point out that even the most favorable performance scenario to the 9070 its not going to be a performance powerhouse.

AMD's own slide puts it at around a 4070Ti for a reason.

I found a way to pivot around it. Start with an obnoxiously expensive 5090 model. "hey babe, look at this asus rog matrix galax rgb 5090, it's 5k bucks".

5 days later I tell her that I'm thinking about buying a 5090. She asks if it's 5k. I tell her nope, it's 2.5k. She gives me the nod and I go ahead

Anyway, I was informed by an old friend of mine who is a bit in the ''inside''. AMD had aggressively priced the 9070/xt and was prepared to showcase it at CES. It was priced to hurt the 5070 hard. 4080 super performance for the cost of a 7800xt. But they heard Nvidia was aggressively pricing the 5070 at $550 in a preemptive response to the 9070. What happens next is anyone's guesss, but I think they will try to market the card at $400 because that was the war plan from the start, to undercut the 5070 by about $150 while offering the same performance and features (FSR 4, frame gen, better encoder etc).
Surely they have a 4080 super killer for 400$ takes out the best copium I currently have *shooooe*

(not really to mock you, I would love such a card and it would be a insta buy IMO, but is that really possible? I love to be wrong in this case btw.)

Heard that they were going to release a 9080xt but it ended up way too fast (around 70% faster than the 5090) - amd didn't think we can handle it - some people would have used it to bring forth judgement day.

I don't think it is going to happen, but the 9070 was intended to hit $500 to $550 under the idea that the 5070 was going to hit $650 to $700.

My missus isn't a techie, so I can use euphemisms. For example, when I buy something for 400 and she asks how much it was, I can say "just a little bit over 200". :D

Lying to someone you love is wrong, I wouldn't do that. But technically, I'm not lying, am I?

We have a joint account. Yes I have my own Entertainment budget but buying GPUs today is a real investment. I miss the days of $300 compelling GPUs.

SLI his & hers  (Carmack the romantic)
We got it while we were engaged. She worked at the Bank at the time so no fees...yes please. It has been years now. Of course I still have my Credit Union account through my work.

Maybe, just maybe and a giant bag of salt to go along, they improved the IPC to the point that it matches the 7900 xt/xtx.

Again, maybe, but I simply don't know.

All we can do is wait for reviews, because i will be honest, both sides are hiding something and we wont know until then.

Seems to be a lot of off topic dribble in the threads lately... this needs to stop.
Discuss the topic!
A lot of insulting/belittling... this needs to cease, too.

AMD and 5700XT: announce the price right away and then adjust it - ewww, what a crock.
AMD and 9070XT: don't announce the price, wait for the announcement from competitor - ugh, what a bullsh*t.

Some % of people will be dissatisfied in any case, no matter what AMD does.

Looks like RX 9070 XT is faster than RTX 5070 if we not count stupid frame generation!

9070XT Price rumor

AMD Reference card: 479 dollar
AIB: ~549 dollar

Thats the narrative when its about AMD.

The havent said a word yet they are already judged, found guilty and trashed accordingly.

Rinse and repeat.

And people wonder why they seems to be abandoning the market.

Looks like we might have a winner, price is decent. Question is, why didn't they announce it at ces, lol.

No answer for RTX 5070 = RTX 4090 witch is complete bullshit! Also they will adjust prices better after seeing benchmarks and nvidia prices. I really hope that this is true and they learned some lessons.

Can't believe im saying this about an AMD GPU but if you can find reference cards for that price, with > 7900xt raster and > 7900xtx RT performance, the 16gb make it a no brainer over the 5070. Holy cow.
