Both PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 double their respective speeds. This requires a more consistent and precise motherboard process and design.

The individual chips that power PCIe 5.0 (and other stuff, USB4.0 etc. etc.) are also a touch more expensive.

Can't fathom that, no. I think it's just an "excuse" at this point. Did they inlay the pathways with pure gold?
