AMD reportedly finalized the adjusted prices. The price cuts were first reported in a little earlier this month. The price of Radeon HD 7970 was slashed by as much as US $70, sending it down to $479, $20 behind that of the GeForce GTX 680. That of the Radeon HD 7950 was cut by $50, which will send its price down to $399. Lastly, the price of Radeon HD 7770 went down by $20, it is priced at $139. Although not formally part of these price cuts, the Radeon HD 7870 is now available for as low as $330.

Sweet now if it goes a little lower I would pick one up.

right after I buy the 6870, may be should have waited.

An inevitable step in the right direction :]

This pleases me. :D

Only half of newegg 7970s seem to have gone down in price so far. I thought they did it all at once

Excellent, everything goes according to the initial 13% pricedrop that usually occurs the first 2 to 4 months from launch, more to follow. The scheme is elusive, something to do with TSMC having to ramp up 28nm process that takes at least 10% per year, 20-25% being ideal for ideal prices. All the way down to 199$ would be best.

wow nice
until $70 cut, so buy the lower then reflash it

So a $70 price cut for the Lightning series as well...

I hope they lower the prices here where I live... :toast:

pricing in our country is shit...at $479, this might be priced around $500...

Until there is software to warrant it....still priced too high.

Our 7970s have dropped from £410 - £460 to £350 - £380
Thats a HUGE drop. (~$95)

Our 7950s have dropped from £339 - £380 to £300 - £340
Another Huge drop (~$65)

I'm regretting buying my 7870 for £265 now, for an extra £40 I could've had a 7950.

EDIT - There is actually no feasible reason to buy a GTX680 if your in the UK now, the cheapest one can be had for £409, a good £60 (~$95) above the cheapest 7970.

Only reference model 7970's dropped below the 680, the non-reference and custom cooling versions are still $50-100 higher.

ASUS DC2 and PowerColor AX7970 are priced at $489: $10 less than 680.
And don't forget that non-reference 680's are priced > $539 (and not available to buy).

Actually it's £399 : Here

£340 for a 7970 is friggin sweet, still going to wait until they come down further hopefully 3 months or so :toast:

what about the 7950 1.5Gb model...are they gonna make one or was it just smack talk?

I'm playing on a 22" 1680x1050 monitor with a GTX 560 ti OC (1 Gb) card and an upgrade to a 7950 1.5Gb would be, performance wise, enough for me imho...

When is the 7970 Toxic supposed to come out? I was hoping it would be out by the time the prices drop.

If Vr-zone kindly check newegg usa prices they will be less excited about paper-price cuts .

with no clear future about GTX680 availability on the market, and these huge price cuts on 79xx and 78xx whoever got the crown for the fastest is not important anymore..

Price/availability metrics might start becoming more important if/when this happens in the future.
