I know it's distance to TJMax. CoreTemp is showing that as 90C. There is info that leads me to believe 62C is max temp. I have had it to 70 or 75 with no thermal throttling, but I am still learning.
Any accepted max temp and way to monitor?
TIA!

HWInfo64 seems to have a good read on those. Only when the cpu is warm, tho - in idle it can show numbers below ambient temperature.

Thanks, but what is the accepted max temp?

CoreTemp doesn't gauge TJmax properly for the FX series. AMD states 62.5 C as the maximum temperature. Is your 6350 overclocked? You should be seeing much lower temps with that 280mm AIO.

Yes it is o.c. I had 70 or 75 on air.
HWMonitor also has CPU which is 7 degrees higher than CPU(Tctl) and (TSI). So what are these other two temps and how are they different than each other?
What's your current overclock and temps under all core synthetic load? Could you upload a HWiNFO screenshot showing all your temps?

Try several monitoring sofware like aida64 and hwmnitor at the same time with coretemp, and compare the readings.

For AMD FX you need to estimate right temperature offset between 16-22 C and it show correct temperature only after CPU is warmer than 45C.

Interesting you should mention that. Speedfan shows my core temp. HWMonitor shows CPU(Tctl), CPU(TSI) and CPU. So here is where it gets screwy. Speedfan shows core the same temp as HWMonitor shows for CPU(Tctl) and (TSI). HWMonitor also has CPU which is 7 degrees higher than CPU(Tctl) and (TSI). So what are these other two temps and how are they different than each other?

I don't understand this at all. Can you please explain?
I am using several temperature monitoring programs, they all agree for temp except as noted above.

AMD CPUs don't use actual temperature sensors, instead they estimate temperature. link
If the CPU above 45C the readings pretty accurate and comparable to real world temperature sensors connected to it.
But also they have strange manufacturing strategy to protect their CPUs from overheating and mobos from burnout - they offset temperature readings higher by 16-22C. This differs for each production batch or target TDP.
Some motherboards like Asus Sabertooth or 990FX have accurate readings in BIOS, but monitoring software still get wrong values and need to set up offset.
So your 90C actually maybe just 70C.

Thanks for the explaination. So how do I tell if my CPU has that offset for sure? How do I tell exactly what it is? A guestimate isn't close enough... I know how AMD comes up with their temp to TJMax, I think it's just dumb.
