Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) will honor industry visionary and innovator Dr. Lisa Su, President and CEO, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), with the prestigious Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award at its highly-anticipated Annual Awards Dinner to be held in Santa Clara, California, on December 6, 2018.

Established in 1999, the Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award recognizes individuals for their exceptional contributions, exemplifying how their vision and global leadership have transformed and elevated the entire semiconductor industry. The selection of Dr. Su is based on her ongoing technological contributions, exceptional business acumen, status as a positive and inspiring role model, and wide ranging respect among the technology industry and business community.

"Lisa is the epitome of what this Award is all about," said Jodi Shelton, co-founder and president of GSA. "She is admired by those who have worked for her, as well as her partners and customers. It takes one-in-a-million to become a great leader and CEO, but to establish yourself as one of this industry's best and brightest shows great tenacity. And she has really only just begun - we feel that she will be a long-term visionary for our industry."

Dr. Lisa Su is AMD president and chief executive officer and serves on the company's board of directors. Previously, Dr. Su held executive leadership and engineering positions with Texas Instruments, IBM and Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. She joined AMD in 2012 as senior vice president and general manager of Global Business Units responsible for integrating AMD's business units, sales, global operations and infrastructure enablement teams into a single market-facing organization. She was promoted to CEO in 2014 to drive the company's transformation into a high-performance computing leader. Under her leadership, AMD's market cap has increased almost tenfold as the company introduced two completely new chip architectures and more than ten different product families, and is now poised to introduce the industry's first high-performance 7nm graphics processing unit (GPU) and central processing unit (CPU) architectures beginning later this year.

Dr. Aart de Geus, Chairman and Co-CEO of industry software giant Synopsys, described Dr. Su as "a leader who approaches issues factually, is open for input, is systematic and measured in her approach and, above all, inspires trust in relationships, as there are no hidden agendas, and she is forthright in her communication. Lisa Su is a key contributor and positive role model in an industry that is continuously operating at the leading edge of technology and utterly challenging in business execution."

Dr. Su has bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She has published more than 40 technical articles, has been inducted into the National Academy of Engineering and named one of the "World's 50 Greatest Leaders" by Fortune Magazine. She serves on the Board of Directors for Analog Devices, the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) and the U.S. Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).

Both an accomplished Engineer and capable CEO.

She IS doing a fine job. :toast:

Thank you for the outstanding Radeon Pro WX 4100 Polaris workstation card Lisa, and the extremely comprehensive software suite.

Will most definitely purchase the successor, WX 4200 Vega card - day one of launch sometime in December. :)

To be fair, we sort of forget these company leaders are often pretty freaking intelligent people. Sometimes they're douchebags, but in this case, Kudos. Make an engineer the top-dog and the company might just listen.

EDIT: and yeah, if that Zen 2 is as good as the recent news... my next chip.

Very well deserved.

DR. Lisa Su is the best thing that happened to AMD in over past decade. I remember when she replaced Rory as CEO and everyone had high expectations from her. Truly an asset to AMD.
